UK based Nigerian rap artiste, Femi Olu a.k.a Sham Pain spoke on ways to deal with piracy in the Nigerian music industry with government handing down harsh sentences. In a recent interview, the rap artiste whose new single for his 5th studio album titled ’4D Swagg’ has just been released informs that: “The only real deterrent for piracy is prison time and the government has to hand down very harsh sentences to abusers.”

THe rap artiste has released four albums in the United Kingdom which largely accepted records like “Sexy Black Chocolate”, “Thick Chickz”, “U B Hatin” and “Freak Like U” in USA and Europe.

The rap artiste also raises the point that piracy might still be a major issue in Nigeria because ‘hands are being oiled.’  He said: “The government doesn’t get it right now. The more artists get revenue the more taxes they will pay and the more money the government will earn everybody wins BUT, BUT, BUT this leads to another point of corruption because if it is this easy and nothing is being done to substantiate it then means to me, personally (that) another ‘force’ is also sharing big profits with the pirates – so the blind eye is turned but the hands are being oiled.”.

SHould music pirate be hanged by law or just imprisonment?

I don't they deserve any of the punishment u mentioned. . . . . . How many politicians that stole billions of naira have been hanged? I think the only reason why they are into this piracy thingy is to survive due to d bad economy. . . . . . Let d phucking politicians give us a better nigeria and u will see how these social vices will disappear. . . . . . .
