Lying is a deliberate act by someone to withhold back the truth from others to mislead them. Usually, at age 5 or 6, a child can understand that lying is wrong, so it is the appropriate time to start training them.

2. To make themselves look good or impress others.

3. Some lie just to get what they want

4. Children can also lie to protect others.

Whichever way it is, you can help a child stop telling lies by doing the following.

First step: Find out why the child lied, and then provide immediate solutions. If for example, a child has lied to avoid being punished, let him understand that you will never punish him if he tells the truth. But even if at all you punish him, it won't be a hard one.

Second step: Do not reward lies. If for example, a child tells lies to get something, make sure he doesn't get that thing. Let him know that he can get whatever he wants when he tells the truth, and not when he tells lies.
