#CAMPAIGN FOR REFERENDUM AND NOT VIOLENT AGITATIONS TO RESTRUCTURE NIGERIA.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PRESIDENT MACKY SALL OF SENEGAL AND MUHAMMADU BUHARI OF NIGERIA!

President Macky Sall of Senegal at the beginning of his first term in 2012, was confronted with myriad of social problems including regular annual flooding of Senegal's Capital, Dakar and suburbs and also a very lean treasury! He was however very quick to confront the challenge by identifying financial wastages in government - especially the Senate!
And in keeping with his campaign promises to the citizens to ensure socio-economic dividends, he wasted no time too quickly canvass the support of the Members of Parliament to shut down the Senate consisting of 100 members who were earning gargantuous salaries and allowances!
The president got overwhelming support from the MPs who voted to abolish the Senate and divert funds which should have been allocated to the Upper House to address flooding across the country. He saved about $15 million US dollars and dismissed critics who accused him of trying to weaken the opposition! The Congress also abolished the post of Vice President!

Senegal has long been considered as one of Africa's model democracies for maintaining stable government and civilian rule which has thrived for centuries in spite of the fact that its economy is based mainly on agriculture and from monies sent home by Senegalese citizens in the Diaspora. .
The President also proposed the reduction of presidential term from seven to five years to set an example within Africa where many leaders cling to power beyond their allotted term. The proposal won approval in March 2016, through the con avocation of REFERENDUM!
Senegal has been devoid of any form of insecurity be it terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, human trafficking etc. but has instead enjoyed peaceful political environment across religious, cultural, tribal and ideological beliefs.

PRESIDENT BUHARI IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF MACKY SALL!

President buhari who served as a Military Head of State between 1983 and 1985 after retirement made frantic efforts to become a democratic president by throwing his hat into the ring on three different occasions but failed.
As providence would have it, on the fourth occasion he won presidential election in 2015 to become the 15th Executive President of Nigeria.
He complained that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which handed over to him after 16 years of maladministration bequeathed an empty treasury which jeopardised his smooth take off.
President Buhari realised that the presidential system of government was too expensive to run for a country like Nigeria where corruption was the order of the day!
He had the option of shutting down the Senate and reducing the 360-member House of Representatives to 74 in order to save costs of running the government but he refused to do that!

THE RETIRED MILITARY GENERAL PREFERS OPULENCE OF PRESIDENCY,!

Instead he continued to run government on borrowed money and the Debt Portfolio of Nigeria as at 18th March 2022 was NGN39 trillion Naira.
In the past seven years of Buhari administration, debt servicing has taken a large chunk of every budget and in addition every annual budget had been criminally inflated by National Assembly legislators in billion of billion running into trillions of Naira!
But president buhari wants to leave some legacy behind! Our advice to him is that he should follow the foot steps of the Senegalese President:
1. Shut the Senate; (2) Convoke a Constituent Assembly; and (3) Draft a Brand New Unicameral Parliamentary Constitution that will reproduce a Prime Minister in the year 2023!
All of the above will produce two outstanding results (1) Every agitation for restructuring of Nigeria through violent means will come to an end and (2) The name of Muhammadu Buhari will be written in GOLD!
The very wasteful Presidential system of government in Nigeria MUST end with the Muhammadu Buhari All Progressives Congress (APC), Administration!
THE BALL IS IN YOUR COURT MR PRESIDENT.

Buhari Eben campaigned with reduction of salaries of political appointees but he allowed it to be increased.
He has done more harm than good to Nigeria
