The vice Chancellor of University of calabar Prof. Florence Obi has been invited by the house committee on public petition over the unpaid salaries of 27 months of the newly employed staffs of the university. She is expected to appear before the committee on the 6th of April 2022, the said staffs where employed by her predecessor Prof. Zana Akpago it is believed she wants to use the staffs to settle scores with her predecessor.

It is also said that Prof. Zana Akpago got approval to employ one thousand staffs of which 600 for the academic staffs and 400 for non academics but in all appointment where given to over 1400 people out of which 700 have completed their documentation process and so far just 200 have been payrolled and the remaining 500 waiting to be payrolled since 2019.

Most of the affected staffs who spoke to us claimed that the Vice Chancellor has vowed that the remaining 500 will never be payrolled rather she is going to terminate their appointment and replace all of them with candidates of God father's who will support her son's ambition to the house of reps for Boki, Ikom federal constituency
