Publicly arrest a few people for doing it.

Lock them up for 8 months before a trial that would send them to 2 months in prison.

They will go home for time-served.

You will drastically reduce the problem by 95%.

What could have made such investigations possible would be if active cameras was situated in the mentioned area and they later reviewed the video and saw no such movement at such time. And Nigeria don't use such tech yet.

Simple , call the number or buzz the app without any real threat, a fine will be sent to you, automatically deducted from any of your bank accounts.

6000 naira for the first fake instance and 10000 for subsequent ones.

By the time this is done to over 10k people through their banks, never again will you try that rubbish.

Don't ask me how to get their BVN Because I am sure there is a way

The only kind of alert that the Nigerian police care about is a bank alert. Just ask Abba Kyari.

In as much it's important you warn the public of such activities... If perpetrated or anyone found guilty of such should be traced to where the call is from and false they should be arrested and make an example to others who chooses to play what is supposed to be a relief and help for the society...

It’s safe to assume that at least 500 people out of the 970 victims of the train attack sent 20 distress alert each…
Imagine being in the middle of nowhere and bandits are shooting sporadically…they probably sent alerts every 5mins during the attack but never got response..

Make it a law that anyone that misuse it will be arrested and sentence to 5months in jail or an option of N5million fine. This is how it's done in Europe and citizens don't play with it.

Their should be consequences for fake alert. If you don't manage the fire alarm in your house effectively and it drew the attention of fire service resque team....you won't pay less than £50.

Imagine fine of 20,000 multiplied by 10k to FG. That's income and control.
