women are desperate to stay married at any cost, thus they will forgive a cheating partner (and focus on the other woman) while MEN would rather get rid of (divorce) the cheating partner than stay with such a direspectful/dishonest/deceitful/unfaithful woman....and will ust go find a better woman to be with.

Forget cheap talk; when cheated on, as a woman, whether in a developed or developing country, I wager you will still stay under so many circumstances. I remember someone like Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala who once made more mouth than you have done here, but when it happened, she had no better choice than to stay put in the marriage despite her many firsts in many special different areas of life. Not rationalizing cheating, though.

Consider this, most of the outgoing individuals you have ever met are also some of the most insecure? Why? Because insecure individuals wear masks very well.

A person's self-esteem and self-confidence goes beyond talk. We are talking here of a person's mental state and not what a person says to the hearing of others. Even the particular woman you mentioned may seem informidable on the outside to those of you who adore her but deep down she may be nothing but scars that have yet to to erased where relationships are concerned.

Even you female, if the wife of ur son cheated you will flare up and threatening the woman.

Something that's cultural is cultural, no education or mordernasation can remove it.

The same way some frustrated guys will cry from now till eternity, it won't not stop men from spending for women. (Reason. It's cultural)

Men largely want a woman who would remain loyal to one man, have one sexual partner, one confidant, etc. That's a man's first and utmost priority in any relationship.

A woman's first desire is a man who would provide, protect, and be a father to her children. So if the cheating spouse is still meeting the woman's utmost needs (provision) in the relationship, she's likely going to remain.

Mind you, there are exemptions to this logic. A man who's out there to defraud a woman or sugar mummy would also not care whether she sleeps around so far as his "income" remains intact. In this case, the woman's money is the priority.

The alternative explanation is also why men don't easily forgive cheating. It is simply because men know that ending their marriage doesn't quite affect their market value (i.e ability to secure fresher younger women for new relationships).

Nope! My opinion was not of people in relationships with one-time, repentant, cheat which is rarely the norm in a place like Nigeria - that wouldn't constitute a culture of cheating would it? .

Instead, most of the topics here on nairaland that address what is the culture of cheating in marriage, refer to marriages where cheating is all but become a norm/ a regular occurrence.... why else do you think many Nigerian men believe it their natural right to cheat on their wives?
