It’s no longer news as the Federal Government of Nigeria recently directed telecommunication companies to bar outgoing calls on all unlinked lines.

Recall the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) had earlier mandated the telecommunications operators in the country to block all SIM cards that are not registered with the National Identity Numbers (NIN) within the stipulated time allotted for registration.

Following this, several subscribers took to social media on Tuesday to express their displeasure over the barring of their communication lines by telecommunication network providers in Nigeria.

Here are what to do to avoid being barred from the network:

How to link your NIN with your MTN line

To link your NIN to an MTN number, simply dial *785# using the MTN phone number you wish to link.

Enter your NIN and submit or; Dial *785#Your NIN# from the MTN phone number you wish to link.

The number will be linked to your NIN automatically. Visit https://mtnonline.com/nim/ using your phone or computer.
