Thief (sorry Chief) Kalu's Deft Political Moves by Xris74: 10:26am On Aug 06, 2007 |
Even in prison custody, former thieving governor of Abia state Orji Kalu is building personal political bridges across the Benue (this time not Niger). A national newspaper had reported earlier that erstwhile Jigawa state gov Turaki, could not leave the prison after bail was granted because the traditional ruler from his state (we hear Turaki upgraded the said ruler to a first-class monarch shortly before the end of his tenure) who had agreed to surety for him reneged following threats from the current gov of Jigawa, Sule Lamido. When Orji was leaving the prison he promised to ensure that Turaki is bailed ASAP by providing a traditional ruler that will guaranty for him. A few days afterwards, a certain traditional ruler who bestrides one amongst the hundreds of autonomous communities Kalu created in Abia state stood surety for Turaki. Where did the said trad ruler get 100 million bail money from? http://odili.net/news/source/2007/aug/4/556.html This move by Kalu, together with the fact that he went almost right from prison custody to ASO ROCK ''to confer'' with Yaradua, makes me wonder how politically deft Kalu is. What do you make of these moves, coming from a supposed treasury looter. Is Kalu already baking a political cake for the future? |
