In regards to Donetsk and Donbas, something has to give. Even if Zelensky wants to let go of those provinces, Ukrainians may not want to let go of them believing they can defeat Russia and have no need to dance to Putin any longer. Crimea may even become a sticky problem again.

Anyway, it may be prudent that the EU and US push for a referendum on the Donetsk,Donbas and Crimea or to be put on hold at least, until peace returns by the Russians pulling out.

Russia far better than the US who invade countries to steal ,kill and destroy lives . Invading countries and sponsoring conflicts over the world , Invade Iraq over crude (lied about nuclear bomb that was non existent in the country) ,same with Syria and Libyan killing millions . The only war of the USA I fault in your list is Iraq. All others were either justified or sanctioned by the UN security Council which Russia is a member of or used to be.

The People of Lugansk, Donetsk and Crimea all conducted a Referendum, to decide where they wanna be and Crimea chose to be with Russia while the other two chose to be independent Countries on their own.
That was why the Ukrainian Forces have been shelling the Dombas Region since 2014.

The truth is that the US had no clear war exit policy...When it became a political issue favoring pullout of US forces.. this left South Vietnam in a precarious position as they didn’t have the resources or the will to continue fighting effectively against the North... Until the South was defeated

For the US...victory was never defined as defeating the North Vietnamese...
The main reason the US pulled out of the Vietnam War was that American support was against continuing it as it cost too many American lives and the costs didn’t justify continued financing...not like they were defeated or something..
