Study Reveals Women are More Charitable

Despite the high-profile philanthropic activities of men like Bill Gates, women of all ages are generally more inclined to donate to charities, and give bigger amounts than their male counterparts. This is the finding in the survey of 8,000 households entitled WomenGive 2010 conducted by the Women’s Philanthropy Institute, which showed that women in four of five income brackets are more willing to donate to charities.

Those interviewed have posited various reasons for donating – including old ladies wanting to look good in their final years to idealistic young women wanting to network with like-minded souls. Most of the women surveyed have established a charitable career since their youth, starting out by giving old toys and clothes and gradually moving to donating cash to institutions close to their hearts.
