Anambra North: Why Tony Nnachetta Is The Best Choice For Senate by DNReporters(m): 7:17am On Apr 11, 2022
Election is around the corner and all manner of politicians, the good, the bad and the ugly have begun to perch in Anambra North Senatorial Zone, as in other zones too.

Anambra North Senatorial Zone has unfortunately become the epicenter of infrastructural decadence, as various infrastructures and critical investments attracted to the zone by our founding fathers have all broken down and become dysfunctional. It is our zonal tragedy that our representatives, especially in the National Assembly, have shown total lack of capacity and political will to question the decadence. As many politicians bombard us with their intentions of representing us in the 10th zone, we have sadly noted the conflicting presence of the serious, the comedians and the outright jesters, the same group of people who have kept the zone in this terrible state of ineptitude all these years.

Therefore, we the Concerned Patriots of Anambra North (CPAN) have undertaken the responsibility of searching out what is best for the zone and educating our people on how to make the best choice for our common good. This is moreso, as since 1999, the zone has remained a war front, as rival politicians dissipated energy and resources, that would have been channelled into our representation, in blackmailing themselves and ensuring instability in our representation. Our zone suffered and predictably became the victim of serial poor representation.

When two elephants fight the grasses suffer. In the selfish rivalry for Anambra North's Senate seat, the zone suffered acutely. It is more disheartening that the only Senator that had the record of representing the zone in two straight tenures of eight unbroken years did her best and we quickly add, that her best is a long way from being good enough for the zone.

Empowering women with grinding machines, Hair dryers and Sewing machines are mere charities that fall grossly short of expectations of attraction of enduring Federal Government or public/private institutions and investments, that would positively impact the women, their husbands, their children and their unborn generations. Same goes for able bodied young men, whose future and the future of their children and unborn children were truncated and condemned to servile hustling after being "empowered" with Okada, Keke and Wheelbarrows.

Sinking of boreholes and renovation of existing roads and the foregoing cannot be acceptable dividends of Senate representation in the 21st Century. We must wake up to take back our zone from people who see their presence in the Senate as opportunity for self gratification, fashion parade and emasculation of the entire zone, as they enrich themselves, their families and friends.

It is not just enough to to take back our zone from these non performers. It has become more important and urgent to ensure that the next person we shall send to represent us in the Senate is someone who understands not just politics but also understands the fundamentals of public administration, the complexities of money management, financial discipline and accountability, investment strategies and above all, possesses natural endowment for diplomatic negotiations.

These are the reasons that inform our belief that Ogbuefi Tony Nnachetta is the best choice for Anambra North in the 10th Senate. With a verifiable First Degree in Finance from the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus and a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Lagos, Tony Nnachetta also holds a Chief Executives Program Certificate from Lagos Business School and a Kennedy School of Government Leadership Class Program from Harvard University.

As member, Institute of Bankers, Nigeria and London, Fellow, Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, Fellow, Institute of Directors, (IOD) Nigeria and former Chairman, IOD membership Committee, Nnachetta had additional trainings in Professional and Executive Management Programs which include; the Euro - Money International Banking School, Robinson College, Cambridge University; CNN World Economic Congress; Price Waterhouse/Financial Times Capital Markets Workshop, London; the Sovereign Risk Management Workshop, National Westminster Bank in Wall Street, New York.

This former Vice - Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association, 1990-1994, had also undertaken Management responsibilities in Commercial and Merchant Banks in Nigeria and until 1994, was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Alpha Merchant Bank PLC.

Honoured by his people with the befitting title of OMELORA, literally meaning, he who provides for many, Ogbuefi Tony Nnachetta, like an Octopus has competent tentacles in many facets of life, that will impact positively on Anambra North if he is elected into the 10th Senate.

His desire to contribute to the goal of recovering the zone in particular and Nigeria in general from the precipice of destruction should excite every indigene of Anambra North Senatorial Zone.

He will bring into Senate representation an amalgam of skills and diverse competencies garnered from robust educational training, privilege of enriched private and public sectors experience, exposure in financial services sector, the Media and varied advocacy works in Civil Society Organizations, Sports Administration, Public Service and eloquent records of Community Service.

These will certainly add value to policy formulation and implementation and also in the drafting of necessary and germane bills for quality representation.

The two - time Commissioner in Anambra State is well equipped for Competence, Capacity and Compassion and will restore integrity and quality representation in the zone. His life is an incorporation of mini Nigeria. He was born in the North of Nigeria, educated in the Eastern and Western parts of Nigeria and married from the Midwest. His capacity to forge understanding and compromises across the geopolitical zones of the country is not in doubt and a major reason why he is the best choice to represent us in the 10th Senate.

Nnachetta has the maturity and cognate experience needed for regional negotiations and compromise in the 10th Senate, especially in Nigeria in distress, where mutual suspicion and distrust demands diplomatic competence from our representatives.

Our zone that had been ably represented by political icons as Rt. Hon. Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Rt. Hon. Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, both of elegant memories, cannot continue to impugn the legacies of these great men with lackluster representations. The time to abandon mediocrity and go for the best is now.

The maritime enclave of Anambra North has no Federal Government investment in her maritime economy or in the Youth, Women and Children. The zone at this time needs a versatile and knowledgeable technocrat as Tony Nnachetta in the 10th Senate.

We have no doubts that this Knight of the order of St. Mulumba is the best choice for our zone and also the best choice for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) if it truly desires to produce its first Senator in the zone.
