The 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nigerian Association of Evaluators (NAE) shall on Wednesday, 13th April 2022.


Ms. Adeola Awogbemi , National Publicity Secretary, said in a press release she signed and made available to journalists during the weekend that the main purposes of the 2022 AGM are:To review the Association's activities during 2021, to receive and consider the 2021 Audited financial account of the Association and Attend to any other issues that may be brought to the attention of the AGM.


Giving a brief background of the Professional Association, Adeola said, the Nigerian Association of Evaluators (NAE) is the umbrella body coordinating organ for all Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Groups, Organizations, Professionals and Practitioners in Nigeria.



" The Association is dedicated to the advancement of professional evaluation practice and use in terms of knowledge and techniques according to international best practices. Its primary aim is to advance professional evaluation practice in Nigeria and also essentially to interact with international evaluation bodies with a focus on learning and dissemination of knowledge.

"The NAE is a product of a strong collaboration between the National Monitoring and Evaluation office of the Federal Ministry of Budget and Planning (MBNP) and UNICEF. The financial and technical support of these partners, ensured the actualization of the Association, which became fully registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (C.A.C) in 2018 with an interim Executive Council that steered the operations of the association until the election of the substantive National Executive Council in 2019.


"Dr. Shamsuddeen Usman, FNAE, OFR, CON is the Chairperson of the NAE’s Board of Trustees (BoT). Dr. Usman is a former Minister of Finance and former Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Dr. Uzodinma Adirieje, FNAE, FAHOA, FIMC is the National President of the NAE.


"Dr. Adirieje is the National Chairman of the Civil Society Organizations Strategy Group on the Sustainable Development Goals (CSOSG-SDGs) in Nigeria; Member of the Federal Government of Nigeria’s Presidential National Steering Committee on Alternate School Programme; and former Chairman of the National World Malaria Day Committee, Nigeria. During the tenure of the current National Executive/Governing Council, and amidst the terrible challenge to businesses that the COVID-19 Pandemic constituted, the Association had among other accomplishments: Organized three successive Annual General Meetings (AGM) including the one holding this week; Increased Membership of the Association by about 40 per cent;Increased the inaugurated State Chapters of the Association by 50 per cent; Held working/advocacy meetings with the Honourable Minister of of Finance, Budget and National Planning (HMFBNP) Hajia Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed, FNAE and Honourable Minister of State for Budget and National Planning Prince Clem Agba supported the Federal Government of Nigeria with a Theory of Change for COVID-19 Interventions; Worked with the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, and Unicef to produce the first draft National Monitoring and Evaluation Policy for Nigeria, which has been approved by the National Economic Council (NEC).



" It is currently awaiting the approval of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) before subsequent legislation of the Evaluation Law;Collaborated productively with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on the Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP-SDGs) and Unicef Nigeria;Formally registered and made the NAE as an active member of the African Evaluation Association (AfrEA), International Organization for Cooperation in Evaluation (IOCE) and Eval4Action Campaign; Participated in the National Evaluation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for which Nigeria is acknowledged as the first country n the world to do so; Organized series of Capacity Development events free for the benefit of members i.e., at no participation cost to the members; Set up and inaugurated various Committees including Communications Committee, Strategic Plan Committee, International Conference Committee, Resource Mobilization Committee, and Ad Hoc Committee, to harness members’ inputs into the governance of the AssociationVision An inclusive, equitable, diverse and credible Association that promotes professionalism, institutionalization, in the research, practice, training and use of evaluation in Nigeria.



"Mission To develop, promote and advocate professionalism, in the practice and use of monitoring and evaluation through collaboration with stakeholders and likeminded individuals within the country and globally to build a community of professional and responsible evaluators and practitioners in Nigeria.



"The aims and objectives of the Association are to: Provide an umbrella platform for individual evaluators and communities of evaluators for strengthening the professionalization of evaluation practice in Nigeria. Establish and maintain partnerships, cooperation, collaboration and/or affiliation with international evaluation organizations and agencies interested in Evaluation. Build consensus on and promote a code of ethics and standards for evaluation practice in Nigeria in compliance with International best practice. Support evaluation research and studies that build the knowledge base and inform policy and practice. Advocate for evaluation demand and proper use, development and practice in Nigeria, through institutionalization of a culture of evaluation in public, private and civil society organizations. Provide a coordinating and regulatory body for evaluation practitioners in Nigeria", she added.
