Ola Rotimi , exposed the evil in afonja land in his work "The gods are not to be blame"

How can afonja fugitive boy Odewale killed his father unapologetically , just to marry his mother so to pound the same toto that birthed him and he did it. What a despicable act .

Before Ola conceived this story and write it down, it was something that was rampant in afonja land.

The gods should not be blame when the repercussion of afonjas foolishnes and stupidity come knocking. Such happened again, when they all voted in Buhari just to spite the south southerners and south easterners, but Buhari brothers came and dealt with them seriously, till they all scamper to Benin republic. Should the gods be blame for this? No. shocked

You know that sense has left you.

Olodo ignoramus.
It was an adaptation of the Greek classic Oedipus Rex, the story centres on Odewale, who is lured into a false sense of security, only to somehow get caught up in a somewhat consanguineous trail of events by the gods of the land.

it wasn't his idea. He copied it from sophocles.

My only problem is this, we don't need Google doddle to honor our artist..
Nigeria should honor its own..
Many people won't even know if not for the Google doddle..

Tribalistic bigot

Ola Rotimi's work was an excellent fiction.

Did you read the book at all?
The story wasn't even his originally

But the storyline is that of a prince who was prophecised to kill his father and marry his mother of which he was sent out of the village to avert such. Unfortunately events played out as such. He ended up killing his father whom he didn't know was his father and then married his mother whom he also didn't know too

After the revelation, he exiled himself I think

Anyways, if not because you're dumb, you'd attribute a fiction to be a true life story and bash a whole tribe based on it ba??

Nice meeting your tribalistic self

Agreed, in most of my talks here you would see my complaints about current gen, we honor and gratify nonsense, the doctor who made sure ebola didn't spread much has been forgotten, but we are reminded always of mercy and other big brother items, artist that have promoted moral decadence, so many irrelevant frivolities, some blame youtube and social media algorithm, in china, mental prowess is favoured over twerking but here and a lot of youthful nations.... Na kayamata, korra and jena we go de discuss, no wonder when other youth are discussing investments.. Nigerian youth are discussing ways to borrow from fenmoney and other loan apps.

Olawale Gladstone Emmanuel Rotimi, best known as Ola Rotimi (13 April 1938 – 18 August 2000),[1] was one of Nigeria's leading playwrights and theatre directors. He has been called "a complete man of the theatre[2] – an actor, director, choreographer and designer – who created performance spaces, influenced by traditional architectural forms.

It is playwright not playwrighter.

Lalasticlala, please take note!!!

When you will not read, why will you not be so ignorant?

The gods must be crazy was not written by him but by a South African Jamie Uys. I think around 1980. He wrote the gods are not to blame.

Even the Gods Are Not To Blame was not originally his work; it was just an adaptation of a Greek play written many centuries ago. You can check out the play "Oedipus Rex" on Google.

He was a great playwright though.

You want to diss, but you don't have a good command of English language, thereby leaving yourself to slander. Also, you're so daft not to know that most writer's stories are based on fictions.
