Does Using Air Conditioning In Your Car Consume More Fuel? by Carmartng: 11:35pm On Apr 15, 2022
Whether or not using air conditioning in a car consumes much fuel has been a topic of debate for the longest time. While many believe it does, some others are in doubt or find it to be speculation. But, the truth is that having an air conditioner in your vehicle consumes fuel. It does not consume fuel when it is off, but once your car’s air conditioner is on, it starts consuming the car fuel.

Constantly putting your car’s AC runs down your fuel faster. And for those travelling a long distance and using AC, the result has become ensuring to fill their fuel tank before travelling. But, the exciting thing about fuel consumption by AC is that it can be controlled.

How To Improve Fuel Economy While Using Air Conditioner
With the fuel hike, random fuel scarcity, and the country’s economic situation, many are searching for ways to reduce expenses. For car users with AC in their car, there are ways to reduce fuel consumption by your AC. Here’s how;

Use the re-circulation function of your A/C system: The re-circulation method requires less energy because the cooled air is the one within your car and not warm air from outside.

Make sure your car has the “econo” mode or smart controls: It helps to reduce the fuel consumption by the air conditioner. The “econo” mode is found in cars with climate control systems.

Open Your Windows: If you’re driving down a highway, you can turn off your A/C and wind your windows down to receive a fresh breeze.

Close Your Windows: Leaving your windows open while your A/C is on consumes more fuel because the engine works harder. Consider closing the windows, and this will considerably reduce fuel consumption.

Conclusion
This issue of car A/C consuming more fuel has been a challenge for many drivers and car owners. Many manufacturers are looking into producing cars that power with electric charging.
