Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, stated criteria on Saturday that he would adopt in order to join with those pushing for a consensus arrangement for something like the emergence of a presidential candidate for the 2023 elections among the Peoples Democratic Party’s contenders.

He also said that those demanding a consensus PDP presidential candidate are really not “genuine and honest,” adding that he is willing to support whatever the party’s presidential flagbearer is.

Wike made the remarks while visiting PDP delegates in Minna, Niger State, on Saturday, ahead of the leading opposition party’s primary contest.

He stated that if a consensus was built on equality, justice, and fairness, he would agree to it.

The presidential candidate stated that he’d been a member of a political party since 1998 and that, despite the party’s rough season, he had never quit.

“I’ll agree to consensus if it’s founded on equality, justice, and fairness, since people who talk about consensus aren’t honest, and our constitution doesn’t mention consensus.”
