People’s Gazette is not just a fake news merchant, it is a completely irresponsible and shameless media platform that is hellbent on portraying Nigeria in very bad light and grossly misinforming the people.

How is that a fake news grin

Read this below

This was made known in a note by Google’s West Africa Director, Juliet Ehimuan-Chiazor, where he said that the cable landed in Lagos today, making it its second successful landing in Africa after it reached Togo last month.

I’m sorry for you if you can’t see the fake news. The author made it very clear in the first publication that Google shelved Nigeria in favor of Togo. He/she even went further to talk about how the cable would create jobs in Togo and improve the country’s economy.

Why lie about Google shelving Nigeria? Why is the second report silent about the benefits that the cable would bring to Nigeria?

The cable landed in Togo last Month before landing in Lagos today. So gazette is still in order, just sensational headline difference.

Besides, they also reported about it immediately it landed in Lagos today. So I don't understand the fuse

Nigeria itself has been a WHITE LIE since 1960. Anyone defending Nigeria in its current state must be part of the scavenging VULTURES feeding off its putrified carcass.

Where did it land in Togo if Nigeria is the 1st African landing from Portugal in Europe?

You hate your country this much, rather than challenge the false news from last month?

And the person who factually challenges has been paid to demand for truth?

It seems you would have preferred that the previous false report was actually true despite the opportunity lost to the average Nigerian who are not responsible for the failure of government?

How is it false?

Last week, Togo became the first African country to land Equiano, Google’s subsea internet cable for Africa. The cable, which is part of the tech giant’s $1 billion investment in Africa, will land in Nigeria, Namibia, and South Africa later this year.

Google and CSQuared announced that the Equiano subsea cable system has landed in Lomé, Togo, marking the cable's first stop along Africa's Atlantic coast. The Equiano cable will run from Portugal along the West Coast of Africa — connecting Europe to Togo, Nigeria, Namibia, South Africa, and St. Helena. The Togolese company CSquared Woezon is the landing partner in Togo for Google's Equiano cable system.

The headline stated clearly that Google shelved Nigeria. So my question is, did Google shelve Nigeria?

The headline wasn’t just sensational, it was outright falsehood. Fake! The author knew very well that the Equiano cable will run from Portugal along the West Coast of Africa — connecting Europe to Togo, Nigeria, Namibia, South Africa, and St. Helena. Why lie that Nigeria was shelved?

Them reporting it today has invalidated the previous post.

Indeed you are right.

My apologies about the 1st African landing.

The below picture is therefore a misrepresentation of the landing points.

However, the headline from last month was a cunning attempt to malign Nigeria as though another tech giant had snubbed us in preference for another African country.

False headlines would be the cause of chaos in this world.

If you know the meaning of the word Shelved, you wouldn’t create this topic because it is irrelevant and senseless. Gazette was right in using the word Shelved.
Btw, below is the meaning of Shelved. Synonym of Shelved is postponed

They reported it today as a normal news item without any embellishments. No reference to the false impression they earlier created. Nothing about the jobs it can create and how it can help boost the economy.

My point is clear, the initial publication was to paint Nigeria and the FG in bad light. They created the impression that Nigeria was snubbed and as a result, we lost the benefits they highlighted would accrue to Togo.

Fake news is all about creating false impression and misleading the public.

The usual crass and senseless argument from folks who just want to argue for argument sake. Go back and read my comments and see how empty you sound.

The context of the first publication clearly depicts that Google had permanently shelved Nigeria out of the Equaino cable in preference for Togo. They even went ahead to state the economic benefits to Togo. Benefits they highlighted to show what Nigeria is missing. So, what’s there that you can’t understand?

your comprehension is problematic, maybe as a result of being a jagabandit. I have checked that particular story online and there is nowhere in the story the bolded was mentioned. Go back and read the story, this time very slowly.
