The 2.6 trillion is not a tax waiver but a certificate from trade ministry stating that MTN invested in capital assets of 2.6 trillion. Mtn will then use 30% of the certified value to offset its taxes.

The real question is whether Mtn truly invested up to 2.6trillion in capital expenditure. It looks a bit high but if they did, then this is a non-issue.

Mr pPresident@MBuhari feigning ignorance of this kind of corruption is detrimental,MTN is economic terrorist, they are contributing to insecurity in Nigeria, and the minister is a yoruba man undermining the corporate survival of the already ripped off economy ,preparing for Oduduwa republic.

Nigeria is not a serious country. With all this tax evasion scandal involving MTN, they are still milking us dey dry. Can't we push MTN and DSTV away? We have Glo, why not make it a national something. Glo was really bad before, but they are improving!

Seems most ppl don't understand the message. It's not some cash waiver or grant. When a company purchase fixed assets it recognizes depreciation in its financial accounts as an annual prorated cost of the asset over its lifetime, however for tax you don't recognize depreciation but recognize capital allowance and its the same value which the company spent on the asset.
For claim of capital allowance ministry of trade is required to certify it before claim and FIRS also requires the certificate to ascertain the claim. This is where the problem is so its not some cash grant

Even with all this tax waiver, MTN data price is still expensive.
