Nigerian-german Siemens AG Electricity Deal Resumes, Targets 2000MW In 2 Months by Moorish: 5:44am On Apr 29, 2022 |
On Tuesday, FGN Power Company, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) set up for the Nigerian-Siemens power deal said electricity equipment like transformers and mobile power substations are expected to arrive in Nigeria in September. The delay in executing the partnership, which was attributed to Covid-19, has contributed to the deterioration of Nigeria’s poor electricity supply. But the Managing Director, FGN Power, Kenny Anuwe, said on Tuesday in Abuja, while speaking on the project, that by the time the power equipment are installed, there would be major improvement in the supply of electricity in the country. This is not what Nigeria needs, state that can finance n generate their electricity should be allowed to do so while those that can state on the national grid. 1 Like |

Moorish: They announced over a year ago that they are continuing implementation.... That was after endsars of 2020.... They even have timelines of increasing the generating capacity. Today we have another announcement to show that work never kicked off. All these are delay tactics to push the Wahala to the next administration. COVID didn't delay anything. Was the money already earmarked in the 2020 budget? What then did they disburse it for? These and more are the questions that needs to be answered |

Sonyboom765: I doubt you have been following the constitution review by the National Assembly that is now before the state Assemblies. A Bill for an Act to Alter the Provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 to allow States Generate, Transmit and Distribute Electricity in Area covered by the National Grid; and for Related Matters. Yes - 90 No – 0 Abstain – 0 Total: 90 The Bill is Passed! Is now left for the state house of assemblies to pass the bill. I think they all have till June or so. The States will be able to Generate, Transmit and Distribute Electricity. For now, only the FG can do such a thing till the bill is worked on by the states. 1 Like |
