Buhari’s Presidency MUST be the last in Nigeria! The 56-year-old Presidential System has virtually destroyed the thin line of UNITY IN DIVERSITY for over 500 tribes and 250 languages!

Presidency is not the cup of tea for a developing country such as Nigeria. It’s introduction birthed all manner of social malaise due to inability of successive governments to fulfil their obligations in respect of citizens' fundamental rights – to quality education, employment opportunities, modern health facilities, potable water, good accommodation etc, because the system is TOO EXPENSIVE AND TOO INSTITUTIONALLY CORRUPTED due to monetary attraction!!

THE PRESIDENTIAL SYSTEM GAVE BIRTH TO BOKO HARAM TERRORISM WHICH FROM 2009-2022 HAD CLAIMED OVER 500,000 LIVES WITHOUT MILITARY SOLUTION!

The choice of presidential system of government by the military which ruled Nigeria for almost 30 years was a deliberate plan to cover up all military atrocities especially in respect of TREASURY LOOTING!

The Nigerian kind of Presidency has manifested both as bane and curse for the downtrodden Citizens to whom “sovereignty constitutionally belongs” according to the bequeathed 1999.

In the pseudo democratic experiment foisted in 1999, the first President was a retired Military General Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo signalling the fact that a DIARCHY would be the trend!

Ex President Obasanjo neither queried nor castigated retired General Abdulsalam Abubakar who handed over on behalf of past military regimes an alleged foreign debt profile of USD$35billion dollars and infrastructural decay of socio-economic institutions on assumption of office in 1999!

In a well-orchestrated propaganda Obasanjo’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was credited to have succeeded in negotiating debt forgiveness from international creditors between 2005/2006 during his 8-year tenure government from 1999-2007! It was said to be debt buy-back with the Paris Club and the London Club.

Nigeria was forgiven USD$18 billion dollars after it paid USD$12.6 billion dollars in tranches.

Who amassed the debts but the military leadership of THREE DECADES?
Therefore, in 2015, after 16 years of governance and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), lost the Presidency to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigerians were informed that the past administration left behind an almost empty treasury and a total debt burden: foreign debt stock was USD 10.31 billion dollars while domestic funds that was NGN 8.39 trillion!
However by December 2020 it stood at NGN16.02 trillion and NGN19.24 trillion according to DMO statistics.

WHAT HAS MAJOR GENERAL PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI DONE IN 7 YEARS TO AMELIORATE THE PRESENT STATE OF INSECURITY AND ANARCHY IN NIGERIA?

General buhari was believed to be frugal, prudent and a passionate leader who had empathy for the downtrodden known as TALAKAWAS and would be merciless to all those bad and corrupt politicians who had brought Nigeria into disrepute among the comity of Nations.

The expectation of Nigerians was very high in that Buhari being a former military general and commander-in-chief of the armed forces will bring his great experiences to bear on the polity and deal ruthlessly with terrorists who had already gained an upper hand as at the time he won the presidential election in 2015!

The incumbent president is a member of the diarchy which were there in government from the 60s when soldiers overran the Democratic Government and installed themselves in power till date. Therefore it will be thoughtless and fruitless to expect one of the members of the junta to perform any miracle in office as it were!

In seven years Buhari's APC Government has through the rubber-stamp SENATE has turned into an addicted borrower and has been borrowing without any consideration for the future generations of Nigeria.

As mentioned earlier, Nigeria does not produce anything other than crude oil as export for the international market but always spends more than 90% of its revenue annually on debt-servicing alone and having nothing left for Capital projects, always borrowed to pay workers monthly salaries!
According to the debt management office report Nigeria's debt burden is set to peak at NGN45 trillion naira this year 2022 which signifies a dangerous trend in economic management.

LIST OF INJURIES INFLICTED ON NIGERIA AND NIGERIANS THROUGH THE PRESIDENTIAL SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT!

1) Nigeria as an independent, evolving and developing democracy in 1960 opted for a parliamentary system of government suited for the new nation but the military toppled the administration of Alhaji Tafawa Balewa in January 1966 in a coup d’état and truncated the nascent democracy!
2) The military wasted no time to install themselves permanently to rule for about 30 years and one of them even assumed the title of PRESIDENT while he was head of state and introduced large-scale corruption, squander mania, stealing and all manner of financial atrocities through military fiat and got away with it? Military Dictator President Ibrahim Babangida is yet to account for the OIL WINDFALL OF USD$12.4 billion made by Nigeria during the 1999 Gulf War
3) In 62 years as an independent nation Nigeria can only boast of one export produce - CRUDE OIL- the foreign exchange earner which had made diversification to agriculture and other mineral natural resources that abound in the country very impossible till date!
4) The Nigerian kind of PRESIDENTIAL SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT lays emphasis on building personalities instead of strong institutions, refuses to embrace the policy of HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT but thrives in massive unemployment figures of able-bodied men and women, and nursing millions of illiterate out of school street children – especially the Almajiri group of children who migrate from State to State begging for alms and food!

DO THE NIGERIAN PEOPLE HAVE ANY HUMAN RIGHTS ACCORDING TO THE 1999 CONSTITUTION?

Although the money-gulping presidential constitution listed about 14 items in Chapter IV -Fundamental Rights to the Citizens, ALL OF THE RIGHT FROM 1999-2022 HAVE BEEN MERE PAPER EXPRESSIONS AND HAVE NOT BEEN BINDING BETWEEN THE SUCCESSIVE GOVERNMENTS AND THE PEOPLE OF NIGERIA

RIGHT to life, right to dignity of human person, Right to personal liberty, Right to fair hearing, Right to private and family life, Right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion, Right to freedom of expression and the Press, Right to peaceful assembly and association, Right to freedom of movement, Right to freedom from discrimination, Right to acquire and own immovable property anywhere in Nigeria, compulsory acquisition of property, restriction on and derogation on fundamental rights, Special jurisdiction of High Court and legal aid ARE PSEUDO PROMISES BY UNRIGHTEOUS POLITICIANS!

Unlike the United States Constitution which Nigerian political leaders claimed to have copied, HUMAN LIVES ARE PRIORITISED, SACRED AND VALUED In a System that cherishes the establishment of very strong and reliable institutions which out-live all politicians and all presidents!

The diarchy between soldiers and civilians in Nigeria from 1966 to 2022 and the introduction of presidential system of government which is anathema to developing nations has to be TERMINATED WITH MUHAMMADU BUHARI’S REGIME!

Nigeria will produce a PRIME MINISTER IN 2023 WITH A BRAND NEW UNICAMERAL PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUTION!

[WATCH OUT FOR A NIGERIAN PRIME MINISTER – NOT A PRESIDENT IN 2023!]
