Do u really know the cost of TV adverts in the so called saner society?
You will be surprised by the cost of TV, online and propaganda firms campaign in those Nations. Democracy is the most expensive form of Govt in the world!
The only difference between us, is the possibility of rich people and political parties to fund the campaign of poor candidate with capacity and competence to win election which is highly unlikely to happen here.

Frankly, I wasn't looking at it from this direction. I thought you were alluding to using the money to bribe the populace.

I actively take part in electioneering and u can't win House of Rep with less than N300m in a competitive contest.
Serious Presidential candidate or party must spend not less than N1b in each state to win election.

That seems to be the norm around the world. Even US has many political parties but we only ever hear of the Democrats and the Republicans
