Saudi Arabia yesterday beheaded three Nigerians accused of murdering and robbing a fellow citizen, the Interior ministry said, in a statement carried by the official SPA news agency.

Mohammed Ismail, Abdulqudus Adam and Mohammed Kabir Ali broke into the house of Omar Mohammed Adam where “they beat him and his wife, tied them down and strangled Omar to death”, said the statement.

Then they burgled their compatriot’s home, it added.

The beheadings in the western Red Sea city of Jeddah brings the number of executions in the ultra-conservative kingdom this year to 31, according to an AFP tally based on official and human rights group reports.

On June 10, London-based watchdog Amnesty International called on Saudi Arabia to stop applying the death penalty, saying there had been a significant rise in the number of executions in the previous six weeks.

It said 15 people were executed in May alone.

In 2009, the number of executions reached 67, compared to 102 in 2008.

Rape, murder, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking are all punishable by death under Saudi Arabia’s strict interpretation of Islamic sharia law.

those names na real wa.
if they are really nigerians, they must have undergone name change because those are definitely not typical nigerian muslim names.

Ignoramuses on the thread

yoruba muslim names would be ismaila, kabiru and adamu.

Its either the men arent nigerian, changed their names or were named in some kind of new fangled style.

For all three of them to have the same type of name is unusual.

the person they allegedly robbed was also said to be nigerian.

which nigerian goes by the name mohammed omar adam?

in nigeria that would be mohammed/muhammadu/mohmoh  umaru  adamu.

strange i must say!!!!!!!!

all of them must have changed their names, if indeed they're nigerians.

hardly any armed robbery in Saudi. this is a clear cover up. 99% of murders in the ultra-conservative(hypocritical) kingdom are associated with s e x u a l abuse (and it applies to both male and female victims). Nigerians, Filipinos, Indians are usually singled out as suspects based not on any sound police investigation but by dubious witness testimony due largely to the fact that they usually fall far below the food chain in Saudi society. Hardly do you get to see a full blooded Saudi male standing trial for any crime. And I bet my life the guys are either Igbo and christian. Saudi is the capital of a s s R a p e. Google it you would be shocked!

i suspect all four are relatively new converts, going by the names.

three mohammeds- obvious. Many new converts choose or are given this name.

adam [not adamu?]- two of them are called adam, rather unusual imo. Signifying the new beginning?

the names sound like they were given them. Root names used to identify particular sets of people.

just guessing of course.

saudis themselves tend to have long names consisting of up to or more than five phonemes and often including  "al" or "bin".

People change names in places like Saudi its common in the middle east. Even Christians use Islamic/Arabic names to reduce discrimination
