Na big money because u dey check am for naira... I mean even for here na big money oo.. but you must know that it's an expensive country...
Average cost of housing: $400Usd/month(room self contain)
Average cost of transportation: $3:50(Barbados dollars)/bus
Average cost of Foodstuff: $300-$500(Barbados dollars) for a pregnant woman
Average cost of hospital for her: $10k Usd
Average cost of registered and legalization:$1000 -5000k
These are just what I can think off head , it can get even more costly and thing I ain't even think of

I know! I was just being generous to the OP. N5 million is not much to have a child outside Africa. You not only need to get a visa to said destination but a transit visa as well due to the fact that the Nigerian passport is weak. We haven't included flight tickets, accommodation, living expenses, hospital bills and baby food. Birth tourism isn't for the average joe in Nigeria. You need to be at least Upper Middle Class to afford it.
truthsayer009:

Imaging gulping out 5M just to give birth, this is even excluding rent money & baby things after child birth, also someone would need to stay with her in Brazil. All the expenses will almost reach 8M let's be honest.

I wan settle for Tanzania abeg grin I've checked ranking of passports and their passport ranks better than Nigeria's. I think that would be better for the baby.

Having your baby in Brazil has so much advantage. And getting a visa is not so difficult. Why don’t you come here to São Paulo Brazil and it will automatically give you and your nuclear family a permanent resident permits and passport* for the newborn. If you are willing to stay here for a year then you are eligible to apply for a citizenship too with your PR permit. The health system is very good and public health system here can bê likened to most private hospitals system in Nigeria. Let me know if you need more information #br_babies I help people with having Brazilian babies here.

Tanzania's law does not permit dual citizenship.

Thanks Prof... I got to know this after so many research too. Only Lesotho allows that and their passport is almost the same but I don't even know how to get Lesotho visa too. They don't have embassy here. Unfortunately, I have spoken with Tanzania embassy before I got to know that they don't allow dual citizenship
Re: . by tensazangetsu20(m): 11:50am On May 21, 2022
Tanzania ke, if its that just birth your child in Nigeria. A Nigerian has way more opportunities than a Tanzanian. You will just waste your money.

OP since Africa is not a problem for you, you can consider Zambia. It's peaceful and has the 10th strongest passport in Africa. (If I remember correctly).

It's not as though it's one very beautiful country but it has a system that works and Zambians have a good reputation outside.

You will also not need to spend too much for everything.

Thank you ma'am but unfortunately, Zambia doesn't give citizenship by birth. That's the problem.

There are quite a number of factors to consider i.e budget, motive, long-term goal, culture etc.

But since there are no specifics here, here are some of the countries that grant citizenship by birth:

USA (for the sake of the mention)
Canada.

Others include:
Barbados
Grenada
Saint Kitts and Nevis
Guyana
Chile,
Argentina
Dominica
Belize
Uruguay
Paraguay
Panama.

Unfortunately, not a lot of African countries grant citizenship by birth and that includes Nigeria, but if Chad and Lesotho sounds good for you, then you should actively consider the two as they grant citizenship by birth.

Most African countries require at least one of the parents to be a citizen to be entitled to citizenship.

Oh sorry about that. Citizenship for those born in Zambia used to be automatic. I just saw that now the child can only apply to be registered when they reach 18.
I hope you find what you are looking for.

Even if I see countries like this that is very easy to enter, I will appreciate it. Right now, we are out of time so if I see good country that my baby can apply for citizenship at the age of 18, I will grab it sharp sharp.

Since I realized that dual citizenship is not possible in Tanzania, Lesotho came to mind BUT till now, I don't know how we can get the visa. I've searched but no positive result. I will appreciate any advice please!

I will like to commend your efforts in having a good plan for your kids, at it stands now, this is one of the best decision intending couples are to take.
1. With wife already 5months gone, you don't have time, and you should have concluded plan a long time ago.
Your best bet now is give birth your first now in Nigeria, and plan for others in Mexico, Brazil, Chile... The first two gives advantage of automatic citizenship for the child and PR for the whole family including grandparents.
That you have your baby now in Nigeria does not mean that he will not get PR through your next child..
It will even help you to plan well next time.
I had my first in Portugal, and the child is Portuguese because my wife had her after been a resident in Portugal after living in Portugal for 2yrs, now the Portuguese law says 1 year as resident.
In Chile, your baby also gets automatic citizenship as long as any of the parent has Temporary Resident Permit..... Using a birth tourist company will help you with that.
To me, Chile passport is better than US and even Canada because it takes you the most important places in the world and citizens that live outside Chile are not taxed.
Taxation is even making US citizens renounce their American passport because uncle Sam will follow you everywhere, and Canada is towing same part.
Your strategy now, have this one in Nigeria and plan for the next in Mexico, Brazil, Chile.
If your child who is now Chilean born or Mexican born will be eligible for Spanish citizen after 2yrs as Spanish resident.... You already set that child for life. More option to live, work, study, free Healthcare abroad.

Well, it's your decision to make, but if you ask me... African country is not worth it apart from Namibia, Mauritius, Seychelles, South Africa, Botswana but how many of them give citizenship by birth?.
Those that give is more or less like holding same passport as Nigerian.... Worthless. The money you will spend for flight, feeding, hospital, housing are more saved and get a good country to give birth and give your kids the world.... Your Nigerian born also gets PR and Accelerated Citizenship before 2-3yrs.
But I wish you well if you still insist in Africa

Only Mauritius, Seychelles rank very high on the global passport index and to an extent, South Africa.

But in Africa, they are the best three in this order:
- Seychelles
- Mauritius
- South Africa.

Although they have the best passports in Africa, none grants automatic citizenship by birth.

When we say break up Nigeria, you people will refuse but you people want your unborn children to have citizenship for other people's countries.

I hate hypocrisy. You people don't want to restructure the country or just break it up despite the fact that Nigeria is not functioning. SMH.
Even if you break up this country into 100 pieces
It will still be a shithole
Black men have "peculiar" mentality; borne out of a mix of so many things; rotten cultural practices included.

Nigeria is not functioning Because of the people in the country
So that talk is a big COPOUT

It's too late to start making concrete plans

You can start from now though planning for the second child
