When I read some comments about the APC intending pesidential candidates purchasing forms as high as #100M, that they got the money through corrupt practices, the money should have been given to the less privileged in the society, they will milk the country dry when they become president and so on. My position is we shouldn't be cynical about this, but also look at it from different perspective, even if the bar is raised to #1B some will still purchase it. Why? These people are not average but elite, they have circle of friends from all walks of life. Old classmates, Clubs,Societies, international affiliates etc. One person from these groups can single handedly bankroll all their expenses. Do you know how banks and other financial institutions disturb these people with mouth watering offers that are irresistible because they are deemed to be credit worthy. In my University days, a friend of mine vying for the position of the President, he had all the potentials but not financially fit to sponsor himself. I was also eyeing the position but far younger and inexperienced, had to step down to get General Secretary's form and I single handedly sponsor him to campaign stage until we both became victorious. If you look at your contacts and you find it difficult to name a single person you can call if you are in a very difficult financial situation, then you are as poor as your contacts. Your clique matters alot, our mentality must change, though the country is drifting towards less developed country, but don't let poverty becloud our judgment. If you were never told to roll with the big boys(legit please) then you are on a long thing. God bless Nigeria and may He give us a leader that will lead us aright. 1 Like |

There is so much sense in what this dude is saying. I also think that all these so called aspirants picking nomination forms are in the guise of contributing funds for their moves ( rigging elections and settling key players ) for the election. Else how you would explain unserious minded people like Ngige aspiraring to become president . He barely held down his ministry, and yet, here he is, aspiraring to become president.

21 billion NGN ke? Are you saying they sold the forms to 210 participants at 100 million NGN? No disrespect but I just kept scratching my head and almost cut my scalp in the process. E no add up. |
