No he cannot. He should even be relieved of his position for what he has done.
Re: FG Bars Civil Servants From Partaking In Politics by MMWandali: 8:57pm On May 07, 2022
People should first get the difference between the definition of civil service and public service before arriving at a position

Please refer to section 318 of the Constitution for guidance
.
Any person who works in an MDA of FG in a civil capacity (civilian) is a civil servant I think with the exception of Minister who though a civilian is a public servant and members of staff of NASS are also public servants
military, police and paramilitary are public servants etc

I think civil servants are public servants, but not all public servants are civil servants

I stand to be corrected though
Thank you

Civil servants work for central and state governments, and answer to the government, not a political party.

I am expecting Buhari to have suspend Emefiele by now

Buhari is playing Dirty Game against Southerners!
Notice that the Circular said "Civil Servants", that means we need to define who is and who is NOT a Civil Servant?

Are Ministers Civil Servants?
Is the CBN Governor a Civil Servant?

Buhari should have said, through an Act of the Legislature, that if you are OCCUPYING and BEING PAID from Govt Coffers (Public Tax and Revenue), you cannot Contest for an Election EXCEPT YOU RESIGN from Office, within NINE (9) MONTHS from picking up a Nomination Form of a Political Party.

This Govt is steeped in DELIBERATE CONFUSION.

Now, whether this "selective ban", one which allows the Party Nomination Field to remain Crowded with the like of Amaechi, Emefiele, etc is designed to make "consensus" difficult in the South, while helping Northerners dream of another "8yrs of locust" possible, only time will tell.

What's the difference between public n civil servant

Civil service is a body of professionals that work in government MDAs to implement government policies. Public servants comprises of all government workers, military personnel, political and elected appointees, judicial workers etc.

While all civil servants are public servants, not all Public servants are civil servants. Military personnel, elected official and political appointees are not civil servants even though they are all public servants.

It's not a new thing. It's more like a reminder of civil service rules.
And for people making it about Emefiele, he is not a civil servant. He is just appointed for a tenure.
However, it is immoral for appointees to seek elective position without resigning their appointments. But that is what we are witnessing with even the ministers.
There is so much impunity in the land.

What is the position of both Justice Minister ( Malami) and the CBN Governor ( Emiefiele)- are they not Public Servants?
