FUTA Teaching Hospital: Deji Mobilises Akure Indigenes For Take Off by press9jatv: 9:08am On May 08, 2022
The Deji and paramount ruler of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, has mobilised Akure sons and daughters to support the take-off of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) Teaching Hospital.

Oba Aladetoyinbo also called on politicians among his people to show commitment to the development of the Teaching Hospital.

The National Universities Commission(NUC) had last year given nod to FUTA to commence admission into the full-time mode of the Medicine and Surgery, MBBS programme with effect from the 2020/2021 academic session.

Oba Aladetoyinbo who invited the indigenes across party lines to his palace in Akure, the Ondo State capital, informed them that all the benefitting communities are coming together to ensure that they contribute maximally to the take-off of the teaching hospital.

The monarch said that since God had decided to favour the communities with the approval of the teaching hospital by the Federal Government, all hands must be on deck to ensure that communities encourage the take-off of the teaching hospital.

While saying sickness has no boundaries, Oba Aladetoyinbo equally appealed to the politicians to allow peace to reign before, during and after the forthcoming elections in the state.

He said: “I am happy that I called you and you responded by attending this important meeting. The essence of this meeting is to appeal to you all to see yourselves as one big family. You must eschew violence in the forthcoming primaries of your political parties.

“Akure does not want violence this time and if you know that you are contesting to contribute your quota to the development of the people, it must not be ‘a do or die affair for you.

“I am again making a clarion call to all the indigenes of Akure speaking communities as well as non-indigenes to brace up for the contribution towards the take-off of the FUTA Teaching Hospital.

“We’ve started this in conjunction with FUTA, we cannot afford to relent now until the project is fully realized.”

Oba Aladetoyinbo promised that records will be opened for future reference while receipts will be issued for every donation received.

In his words: “Let me assure you that generations to come will have access to this document and I am confident that posterity will be kind to you. Everyone will have the opportunity to be part of it irrespective of your financial or social status.”

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Mobilisation Sub-committee of Community Central Planning Community(CCPC)on FUTA Teaching Hospital, Dr Tayo Olujuyigbe, appreciated the Monarch for coming up with the initiative of mobilizing support for FUTA.

Dr Olujuyigbe informed that the mobilisation committee had been moving around all the benefiting communities in the state to seek their cooperation and contribution to the take-off of the project.

He hinted that the CCPC would soon come up with a building to be presented to the FUTA as the contribution of the benefiting communities for the take-off of the Teaching Hospital.

Responding, the Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Sen. Tayo Alasoadura, described the establishment of the Teaching hospital for Akure as a good development.

While also commending the monarch for the step taken so far, Alasoadura urged the committee members to ensure that everybody who had contributed to the establishment of the project are carried along.

He, however, pledged the support of the politicians to the smooth take-off of the project.

Meanwhile, the Mobilisation Committee had earlier visited His Royal Highness, Oba Abiodun Aderemi Adefehinti, the Alara of Ilara Mokin and other prominent indigenes of the town.
