The International Gas Union (IGU), of which Gazprom is a member on the Russian side, has temporarily, until further notice, suspended any participation of Russian companies in its activities.

As Interfax was told by a representative of the organizing committee of the International Gas Congress (IGC), which hosts the IGU, "in this regard, the Korean Gas Union, hosting the IGC in 2022, cannot realize the further participation of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in the IGC-2022: neither for performances, nor for the participation of delegations, nor for participation in an exhibition or sponsorship.

The MGK also denied accreditation to Interfax journalists.

Traditionally, Russia's largest gas players - Gazprom and NOVATEK - took part in the IGC. Their leaders Alexey Miller and Leonid Mikhelson were previously among the speakers of the congress in Korea. Typically, companies set up their stands at exhibitions where they negotiated with international partners.

Gazprom planned to spend 137 million rubles on the construction of a stand at an exhibition in the Korean city of Daegu, where the congress was to be held, follows from the data of the company's already canceled purchase. In the concern's procurement documentation for the construction of the exhibition pavilion, it was reported that NOVATEK plans to build its stand as well.

IGU members are 160 associations and corporations of the gas industry, representing more than 95% of the world gas market.
