German gas company Verbundnetz Gas (VNG) has agreed to the Russian gas payment scheme.
The firm will transfer payments to Gazprombank to pay for natural gas from Russia. This is reported by Reuters.

VNG does not expect problems when converting currency into rubles. The agency clarifies that the opening of a foreign currency account was successful and did not cause any difficulties. “We will pay the invoice amount, which will continue to be denominated in euros, to Gazprombank accounts in accordance with the planned procedure, so that we can ensure timely payment to our supplier,” Verbundnetz Gaz said in a statement.

At the same time, the company assured that it is taking all necessary measures in accordance with the current sanctions legislation in order to continue to ensure gas supplies and, as a result, the economic stability of Germany.

Germany and Qatar are currently facing difficulties during negotiations on the import of liquefied natural gas. Differences in the negotiations arose over the key terms of a potential supply contract. The German Economy Minister stressed that Berlin is not going to completely replace Russian energy supplies with supplies from Qatar, but only seeks to diversify.
