Strike: ASUU to consider religious body’s appeal to resume work – Official




Striking university workers’ unions have said their members would “consider” the appeal by the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) which seeks the suspension of their ongoing strike while negotiations continue.

The unions include the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT).

A statement issued by the Ministry of Labour and signed by its head of press and public relations, Olajide Oshundun, stated that the chairperson of NIREC and Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, made the appeal on Thursday during a “tripartite-plus” meeting between the striking university workers’ unions and government representatives and other stakeholders.

, as for ASUU, it means the appeal will be taken to the branches for consideration, if majority of the branches accept the offer then it may be accepted!
If the appeal is accepted, then resumption may be by June.

They are planning on suspending the strike for 3month due to the pressure including student protesting and after three months if FG doesn't do anything it will be indefinite strike.

Why would they consider and go back to class then after 3month they are back embarking on strike. Student should boycott classes if that’s the case, you don’t waste people time and not achieve your aim and still waste another time in the future

At least let 2020/2021 finalists go. In my school, we were just about to start second semester exams before the strike. Timetable even came out that Monday morning. You can imagine how frustrating it is. People that, normally, should've left June 2021
