Many people have been harassed by what they have been led to believe are the souls, or spirits, of the dead. They are convinced that such harassment has come from the unappeased souls of dead relatives, family members or friends. Because of that fear, they try to appease their dead love ones. But what does the Bible say about this?
As stated in an earlier thread, which is https://www.nairaland.com/7116011/what-happens-death Ecclesiastes 9:5 says --"For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing at all, nor do they have any more reward, because all memory of them is forgotten." Also, Isaiah 26:14 says partly"They are dead; they will not live. Powerless in death, they will not rise up."
As seen in the two Bible verses, the Dead are powerless and know nothing. So, when someone dies, he/she(the dead individual) does not have the power or knowledge to go and trouble or harass a living family member or friend. So then who are those dead people harassing their family members or friends?
Ephesians 6:12 says "because we have a struggle, not against blood and flesh, but against the governments, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places." So, there are wicked spirit forces(demons) masquerading as dead loved ones harassing living humans.
Thus, We should not be afraid because the dead can do nothing but by prayer and supplication to Jehovah and faith in him, we can conquer the lie that the dead communicate with the living.
