Yardua, I pray he continues with his good begining

Ojukwu, who was a General in the Biafran Army between 1967 and 1970 when the civil war lasted, was the military governor of the old Eastern Region with the rank of a Lieutenant Colonel in the Nigerian Army.

The ex-Biafran officers will, however, be paid based on their ranks in the Nigerian Army before the civil war broke out.

Apart from Ojukwu, other officers that will be paid include Lt. Col. Patrick Awuna, Lt. Lawrence Okoi, Lt. Boniface Ikejiofor, Lt. Augustine Azubuogo, Lt. Juventus Ojukwu, Capt. Michael Ugbechie, and Maj. Iwuchukwu Chuka.

The MPB chairman said all ex-Biafran soldiers who received presidential pardon would be paid.

He said, ” The ex-Biafran soldiers pardoned by government, we have received the documents of some of them and we are processing them for payment of their entitlements.

”For those still alive and the next-of-kin of others, we are processing their papers. They will not receive the same amount because it depends on their ranks.

”The good news is that they will all be paid. We have already intimated to the government about what it will take to pay them. But the process is continuous because we treat them as we receive their documents.”
