The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) of Borno State have reportedly rescued a female Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Student identified as Becky Inuwa, who has been held hostage by Islamist militant sect, Boko Haram, since 2020.

Becky was allegedly rescued along with 5 other women in April, 2022, by the MNJTF during a gun battle with their captors in the Lake Chad region.

She was reportedly abducted by Boko Haram terrorists on Maiduguri road in October 2020, that is over one and a half years ago.

Spokesman of the Task Force, Colonel Mohammed Dole, during a press release said Becky and the 5 other women were rescued around Tubun Fulani and Tubun Rago in the Lake Chad axis.

The hostages managed to escape while troops reportedly engaged the terrorists in a gun battle, after which they were being placed on a medical examination and care.

The rescued women were thereafter moved to Maiduguri for further profiling before being handed over to civil authorities before rejoining their family members.
