The Imo House of Assembly on Tuesday passed a bill for the establishment of the Imo Public Complaints, Financial Crimes and anti Corruption Commission and other related matters.

The 67 section bill was presented by the Majority Leader, Mr Kanayo Onyemaechi (APC Owerri) at the plenary session of the house and granted accelerated passage.

Onyemaechi said the bill would help the government to checkmate loopholes and restore sanity in the system by curbing corrupt practices.

Supporting the bill, Mr Eddy Obinna (APC Aboh Mbaise) described it as a “welcome development” as it will enable investigation of misappropriation of public funds and illegality in public office.

He added that this would promote due process and largely reduce corruption in governance.

Also supporting, Mrs Uju Onwudiwe (APC Njaba) noted that it would promote conscientiousness in executing government contracts.

She further observed that the passage of the law would encourage prudent spending and end the era of abandoned projects by contractors.

Mr Dominic Ezerioha (Oru West) likened the proposed commission to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) adding that it would checkmate activities of public servants.

The Speaker (APC, Obowo) while commenting on the bill, expressed satisfaction with the bill which he said would also provide for investigation of people who lived above their means.

He directed the Clerk, Mrs Chinelo Emeghara, to send the bill which was considered at a committee of the whole house and
passed to the Governor for assent.

Who can stop politicians and corruption in Nigeria? I laugh, even if anyone want to stop corruption, I doubt these double faced lawmakers. All of them are the same.

Way to go ..secondly let it not be observed in the breach ....we don't lack laws in this country, our problem is implementation...they should make laws against this heartless people killing people in South East, this beasts should be dealt with...but reno the clown should know that just as bokoharam have killed lots of igbos in the North without any protest from igbos because we see them as terrorists..it is the same way this Unknown gun men in the east should be viewed..they killed an innocent woman and her children which is very condemnable..I cried personally for those innocent kids and woman who was killed for nothing..but the killers can not be compare with religious fanatics who killed a young gal over whatever she said against a dead prophet...on that same day, this terrorists ( UGM) killed lots of innocent igbos in so many communities in Anambra state ,we can't critize the deaths of this innocent northerners in isolation..we condemn what happened to them and our igbo brethren that dark Sunday evening..reno is going crazy since his hands was removed from our common till..and is not the fault of igbos..

They should approve “death by hanging” to any corrupt politician, just as it is in China, and see how these old fools will avoid politics like plague.
