According to BBC and Daily Nigerian, Harira Jibril was the name of the pregnant woman killed at Isulo, Anambra State over the weekend. As seen in the viral video, she was shot dead together with her four daughters who were aged 9, 7, 5 and 2!

IPOB barbarians have the mind that can shoot toddlers and even the unborn, since they are Hausa/Fulani Muslims from the north.

Devoid of all polemics, we are actually not supposed to spend energy over the graveyard silence from Southern media influencers. Southern elites also don’t think this is something so serious to talk about. Not Oby Ezekwesili, nor Professor Wole Soyinka who doesn’t think Professor Maqari deserves to continue being an imām. How about the presidential hopeful, Peter Obi? This barbarism happened in the same Anambra State where Peter Obi was once a governor. Obi is contesting for presidency in 2023. He was yesterday tweeting about his visit to No 10 Downing Street, but not the misfortune that befell Harira and her kids in his home state! Look at his gesture over this, and tell me how he would be the better president who an average northerner should vote for. Peter Obi doesn’t think IPOB is something he should condemn.

But I am not really surprised over all these. In fact, it is surprising that people are surprised! I would have been terribly shocked if this set of people expressed deep worry over this misfortune. The lack of concern has never failed to manifest. It has always been visible to the blind and audible to the deaf.

But let’s give them a break! It’s not their struggle. So, there should be a limit to which we castigate their conspiracy of silence. If they put in their energy like they did on Deborah’s, then that will be truly selfless.

Let’s look home.

I am yet to read a message from the Sultanate of Sokoto. What is the message from Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI)? What of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA)? What of presidential hopeful Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, whose aide was fired over posting on Facebook on Deborah without due approval? These are the first quarters of silence that we should be asking why the silence.

Then the so-called Arewa intellectuals, whose mighty pens have not spared any perceived misconduct coming from the region. They are not influential on Twitter, agreed; but they are strong on Facebook. The pens shouldn’t suddenly dry up when your home records a big casualty like this.

We can bash southern figures as much as we want over their graveyard silence on this matter. However, we should know that they have a higher social intelligence than their northern counterparts. Politician to politician; writer to writer; ethnic champion to ethnic champion.

Southern figures stand up for theirs in the event of victimization up Muslim North. This is called brotherhood, and it is a good social trait!

Northern figures barely stand up for theirs in the event of victimization down Christian South. This is called low self-esteem, and it is a bad social trait!
