Yes. The man appears to be well prepared - at all times - to successfully manouvre in the narrow confines of the shark-infested waters of Nigerian politics. He almost certainly already has a well worked out Plan B. This may not necessarily mean dumping the APC! He has the ability to negotiate within the APC. What stops him from joining an established so-called Aso Rock cabal or forming a brand new outfit. He has the means, right?
