I was traveling from Ibadan to Ekiti when my Toyota Camry 2005 stop moving. I called a mechanic and, we discovered there is no Gear oil, I purchased Gear oil and proceed on my journey. After an hour trip, the car stop moving, I discovered the gear oil has drained out and, the gear area was very hot. I packed the car and, took public transport. The car was later towing to Ekiti.

The Gear guy said the gear pump is the problem and, the gear socket, the two were changed. After that, the car doesn't enter reverse, he said, it's the reverse fibre, we changed it. The reverse is okay, but, when driving it's very difficult to enter gear two, and, later the car will just stop moving. I have stopped driving it, but, yesterday I decided to drive it to a nearby bus stop, the car stopped after 2 minutes drive, but, if I remove the battery terminal and put it back, the car will start moving again.

I've spent a lot and, it's like the gear guy doesn't know the problem at the same time extorting me.

I would appreciate any professional advice I could get.

The only solution is to sell your car.No be by force to drive car.Na money wey you for take dey build your house for village gradually you take dey repair car.

Thanks bro. I'm thinking about that too but, my worries is if I change the gear won't the issue of spilling out the gear oil occur again. Because after replacing the gear pump, the gear oil still spill out, and, getting an experienced specialist in Ekiti has been difficult.

The gear sellers are the ones to replace the gear. Someone I know bought from Lagos and they sent the installer too. He was given one week to test if there is any issue. The gear is still fine after many years.

They won't open a tokunbo gear. It is just to replace the existing one

Since the oil drains out, it means there is a leakage at the seal. You should have noticed it before now if you have been doing routine checks on the car. As it is you have to buy a new gear to avoid wasting more money on guess work.
