Unidentified tanker containing over 45,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) on Friday 27th of May, 2022 which tumbled is causing multiple vehicle collisions at Otedola Bridge, Lagos State.

The tanker with unidentified registration number which collided with four other vehicles which lead to fire incident.

Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the accident in the report by Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the permanent secretary of the ministry.

According to the LASEMA’s report, “The Agency received a distress calls via their toll-free number of the incident of multiple vehicle collision and the tumbled tanker incident at Otedola Bridge and there's deployment of its resources immediately after the scene.

“Upon the arrival of the Agency’s Tiger Squad at the Command and the Control Centre, Alausa-Ikeja at the incident, which was observed that multiple accident involving unknown tanker registration number that's containing over 45,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and the four vehicles which had collided.

The Lagos State Fire Service, LASEMA's Joint Team, Fire Team and also the Nigeria Police Force worked together to manage the flames and the resultant traffic backlogs by using chemical retardant to blanket all the entire area for the prevention of fire disaster that can lead to so many loss of lives and the properties.

“Unfortunately, one man the motor boy of the tanker lost his life due to the impact of the collision.

However, those cars that were affected has been recovered by the Agency’s light duty equipment while load is going to be transfer and be re-load to another truck before the recovery.

During the trans-loading of the property into another truck is still going-on, the carriageway which has been opened for  activities of the vehicles.

“Some citizens are advised to curb themselves from any illegal scooping of goods or product and also avoid igniting naked flame or any fire to prevent any  incident that can lead to loss of lives,

However, as the safety of lives and the properties of Lagosians are first priority to the present administration of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.”
