Gas leak ke? So they do not know that Enugu has one of Nigeria's biggest gas deposits? That is why it's dangerous to drill boreholes in Enugu without a proper permit. I'm surprised that this governor has not made it illegal for individuals to drill boreholes without a proper permit.

That Enugu governor is near useless! Why this amount of gas and coal in your territory, yet you can’t make the necessary moves…or noise even, to get them utilised to help bring in the much needed revenue for the state!?

His two terms will soon be up, and i can’t honestly say i’ve seen any marked improvement in the states’ economic prospects!

IT IS NOT UNCOMMON TO DISCOVER NATURAL GAS WHERE EVER THERE IS COAL, JUST LIKE IN RUSSIA. IGBOS SHOULD START THINKING OF HOW TO WORK TOGETHER IN PEACE WITH OTHER ETHNIC GROUPS ON HOW TO CREATE A NEW NIGERIA WHERE ALL WILL ENJOY EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES. You mean the same ojoro ‘commercial quantity’ levels the evil Nigerian state said Anambra oil didn’t reach that they used in ’justifying’ not exploiting hydrocarbons in the state…only for Anambra to wake up one morning and hear a sneaky Indian oil and gas coy, SEEPCO, has been drilling and exploiting Anambra oil for years…with the 13% derivation going to neighbouring Delta state!?

Had it been Obiano didn’t kick up a fuss and visit Abuja to lodge an official complaint, that injustice would have persisted till today!

This is a stupid response.
First do a seismic to determine the size of the reservoir, that tells you whether to leave it to burn out or to plug it, eliminate oxygen and put out the fire.

If this is a large methane reservoir, it could sustain that fire for the next 5 years. Which will be a major waste of resources for Enugu State.

Further, the fire is burning at one point so, it's easier to put out, than when it has multiple points.

Also watch as igala people bring up a tale of how oguedu onoja woke up one morning in his house in kogi state and suddenly set off to buy Maggi, after trekking and trekking, he lost his way and somehow found himself in Enugu emene, he found an igala girl that was selling okproko, they settled in the land and got married. Therefore emene people are descendants of igala, it was just proximity to independence layout that made them to start speaking igbo

Referring to your last paragraph: so why in Gods name aren’t they seeing any financial benefit to their state coffers!? Had these two states been independent countries in their own right…they’d have been seeing at least $1 billion a month from what God blessed them with!

no need for that if it's a natural gas reservoir which I think it might be(there are few man made ones and Definitely not underground in a place like Nigeria),the the fact it was discovered this close to the surface suggests its present in huge commercial quantities

If something is bad, my brother condemn it. The killings in the East has become too much.

If this is really the discovery of Natural gas and it’s in large quantity, I’ll be 100% glad.

Sadly, even northerners would enjoy it. It’s painful but that’s the truth. At least Enugu State would have bragging rights like other states feeding the nation with their oil.

Mind you, I’m not a northerner, just a realist from the South

Well meaning Nigerians like us are happy that this gas leakage wasn't caused by the activities of UGM masquerading as ESN, the militia arm of IPOB.
Very soon a breathe of fresh air will be felt by the igbos in the east. All the activities and atrocities of UGM and ESN will be a thing of the past. A peaceful Nigeria is all we pray and hope for.
