Don't try going to Singapore to study. It's a very huge waste of money. You will just see all the fine buildings and after your studies you will be bundled back to Nigeria.

As a black sub-Saharan African, you are better off studying in Japan or even Hong Kong if you must study in Asia with your finances rather than in Singapore. The economy is small, competition is stiff, the restrictions in employing foreigners, especially as fresh graduates, are plentiful, the cost of education is extremely HIGH (comparable to Harvard and Oxford) etc. Yes, the quality of education is high but judging from the recent exodus of sub-Saharan Africans esp, Nigerians who use study visa as a means to relocate and later become permanent residents/naturalised citizens in their new locations, you would not become a permanent resident if that is your aim.

You are not allowed to work on a student visa o. So, no route to hustling money to pay fees. The rules are strict and are applied across all board regardless of where you come from. Also, nothing like let me study in the Alaska-like area or Eastern Germany to reduce costs. Singapore is an expensive place to live. However, if you have a scholarship, you can study, but again, don't put too much hopes for a job after your studies. On the one hand, the government sponsors foreign students through their undergraduate degrees in her institutions and they sign a bond to work in Singapore for at least three years. But, this scholarship is for only neighbouring countries. You sabi any black dominated country wey dey close to Singapore? If you really love Singapore, just like I do, your route to working there as a professional (due to the immigration policy, a black person you see there HAS to be a skilled professional as there must be a very strong reason why you were chosen instead of an Indian or Chinese), obtain your education in a university in a developed country, work experiences and passport of a developed country then apply for jobs there or a transfer. As a foreigner, salaries are pretty high, again, because companies have to prove to the govt that they cannot see a qualified Singaporean. Sometimes, the rules and fees are so stringent and high that companies search for Singaporeans based abroad to employ to fulfil govt obligations if not, they receive queries as to why there are disproportionately too many foreigners.

It is a good place to live because it is very safe, tropical weather just like Nigeria, but as a black sub-Saharan African, you have to be smart regarding working and residing there. For instance, in all the videos about blacks working there, none has a passport of an African country even when they originated from the continent. One was from Zambia but had a British passport, the other an African American, and the other a Jamaican with a British passport. One might say what about the blacks working in the ports and tech companies, they constitute a minute proportion. Again, you must be so good before the firm went all the way to sub-Saharan Africa to employ you. Salaries in the maritime sector to an extent are lower than in the lucrative financial services or tech industry.

Singapore is almost similar to Switerland. Differences are:

There are no limits to companies' intra-transfers
Singapore's neighbours enjoy easy access to working there
Singapore makes it explicitly clear her immigration policies before you enter. That is, if you do your research, everything is online.

BTW, what is this fascination with Nigerians and foreign women? You people believed the lie that Nigerian men are revered by abroadian women? shocked Like I said somewhere else, that depends on the kind of woman o. Singaporean ladies esp the Chinese have very high standards which only Chinese Singaporean and white men can fulfil. Also, no hope of being a naturalised citizen as a black African. Citizenship is tied to racial quotas.

Everything on the internet glitters, it doesn't mean it is gold
Because I don't see why any Nigerians should be considering countries like Signapore, Cyprus and so on
Many of us already allowed social media to think for us and confuse realities to us

Exactly. If you are a Nigerian from a poor or middle class family who struggled to scrap funds for studies abroad the first thing you should consider is the country's route to getting PR and the passport privileges of that country. Prioritize countries where getting PR is very easy. Forget rankings, rankings of schools are useless If you would have to come back to Nigeria. Singapore has good schools yes but if you go there and have to come back to Nigeria what will you do with a Singaporean degree in Nigeria.

To get a study visa, you'll want to start by researching the specific requirements and application process outlined by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) of Singapore. They usually have detailed information on their official website to guide prospective students through the process.

You'll typically need to secure admission to a recognized educational institution in Singapore before applying for a study visa. Once you've been accepted, you can then proceed with the visa application process, which may involve submitting various documents such as proof of enrollment, financial statements, and a valid passport. If you're still hunting for more information or need assistance navigating the process, I have a suggestion for you. Check out Branches Of SG. It's a platform that offers valuable resources and insights into studying in Singapore, including visa application tips and guidance.
