Nigeria’s football authorities have signed a five-year partnership deal worth nearly N2-billion with telecommunications company Globacom.

The deal more than doubles the previous contract between the NFF and Glo, which was worth N150-million annually and will see the company reclaim title rights to the national teams, become presenting sponsors of the Federation Cup as well as the National First Division, which is the country's second tier of domestic football, the women's league and the amateur league.

Additionally, Glo will pay the NFF N60-million out of the N70-million outstanding from the last year of their previous sponsorship deal with the NFF.

The contract includes a provision to facilitate the organisation of two international friendly matches every year, says NFF Head of Marketing Adama Idris.

Glo will pay the NFF a fixed sum of N350-million per year for the first three years of the contract, with 10 percent increases in the last two years.

Present at the signing of the contract on Friday were NFF President Aminu Maigari and acting General Secretary Musa Amadu.

Glo were represented by Bode Opeseitan, Director of Special Promotions.
