Sam Onuigbo Wins Abia Central APC Senatorial Ticket by Metrix147: 4:09pm On May 31, 2022 |
Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal constituency, Honourable Sam Onuigbo has narrowly won the ticket of APC to represent Abia Central ahead of the 2023 general elections, ABN TV reports. He was declared winner following a run-off election which took place in Umuahia on Sunday. The election was yesterday declared inconclusive. Out of 318 accredited voters, he polled a total of 157 to triumph over his rival, Chief Henry Ikoh who polled 152. Nine votes were voided. Sen. Nkechi Nwogu had earlier withdrawn from the race. In his reaction, Hon. Onuigbo while speaking with ABN TV expressed gratitude to the leadership of Abia APC for providing a level playing field for the aspirants as well as the delegates for voting for him. He pledged to continue to deliver outstanding work that has endeared him to the people of his constituency. While stating that God alone orders his footsteps, the lawmaker expressed gratitude to those who have supported him, including the APC governorship candidate in the state, High Chief Ikechi Emenike, and entire Abians. I don't get something. Abia is supposed to be the headquarters of IPOB. How come APC which is seen as the "evil party" is having primaries in the state and being represented by their top politicians, while the IPOB warriors are in Anambra trying to destabilise the economy of the state under whatever guise?? One will think IPOB will start their struggle against APC and Nigerian whatever from Abia, their headquarters Some things just don't make sense in the East, fa 1 Like |

garfield1:He was not declared winner. The Returning Officer admitted there was discrepancy with the accreditation hence did not return anybody as winner. Ikoh MUST win. |

Nobody has been declared winner. This news is very untrue. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2022/05/abia-central-apc-primaries-end-in-stalemate/amp/ |

garfield1:There is no Abian who don't know Ikoh but he has always been a nearly-man. The results is likely going to be cancelled. He won but Onuigbo used those who weren't delegates to inflate it. 310 delegates were accredited. 9 votes voided; 152 against 157 shows it exceeded 310 and the Returning Officer noted it and have filed his reports to the NWC, he declined to name a winner. That was how they schemed Ikoh out on Convention ground where he was running for National Vice-Chair (SE). 2 Likes |

garfield1:Nope, Ikoh has fought for Governor more than once. He and OUK were one of those who started PPA, OUK gave the ticket to TA in 2007. He contested and lost, contested in 2011 again and lost. Moreover, It is shared in that Constituency, one term each but Onuigbo is the first and only person to do two terms. Now, it's out of Ikwuano LGA and back to Umuahia, instead of Onuigbo to rest he wants to climb up.... 1 Like |

garfield1:Rochas that has been @ loggerheads with Uzodinma, it won't work nah. Ohakim withdrew when he saw that the Gov wasn't going to back him. Onyeriri is strong, that's why they went to call Izunaso, the man that stopped Arthur Nzeribe. Mbata himself knows. 1 Like |
