If Buhari had won?
Keep in mind Boko Haram (BH), the Islamic Banking (IB) saga, and the Fulani rampage all over the North and parts of the South
How would Nigeria have looked like now and in the near future under Buhari?

Keep lying and consoling yourself grin . So, you mean you voted for a "bad" man, because it takes someone being bad before another can be worse in comparison to him. I must add, you yourself must be a bad person to have voted a "bad" man into power.

If you disagree, you will have to modify your first comment on this thread.

If by going with what he did when he came in through the back door in 1984, I think things will have improve a bit in certain areas of the country, notably the National Assembly.

No be Buhari deal with the Maitastsine cult in the '80s?
Abeg OP stop trying to console yourself for making the r'etarded choice of voting in the same party that had impoverished the nation and squandered tens of billions of dollars with no result.

islamic banking is a step in the right direction
we from the south should not be so ignorant
as ENG has said its designed for small scale loans to less previledge people in particular northterners where porverty is predominant
zenith bank won't give an 'aboki' a loan to start a kiosk,
the islamic angle is what people are worried about, but we should note that the western model of governance and administration most of the world use was instutionalized by the britsh- vis-a-vis the church.
churches in nigeria can asses loans to build their mega structures or even to start a church printing buisness , haggai bank is majorly owned by RCCG.
no bank would finance any islamic oriented buisness.
if we love our country as dearly as we claim and show by the ourbusrt of emotion here on NL we would give the north a chance to breakthrough from the shackles of extreme porverty.

People really dont understand anything about Islamic bank, and then start a thread in the process. Typical of the average Nigerian, absolutely no knowledge, even of the smallest things

Folks!

The problem is not with the principles of Islamic banking, it is rather with the under tone of islamising Nigeria.

According to Sanusi, you must be "Sharia Compliant" to operate Islamic Bank or to benefit from it.

It is not every Nigerian who will benefit. People will be adviced by the banks to change religion in other to get loan. This is why CAN is agitating.

Soludo gave guidelines for NIB => Non Interest Banking. There are different types of NIB of which Islamic Banking is one of them. The problem now is this: Instead of promoting Non Interest Banking in general, the CBN which is an umpire is promoting only one type.
The question then is; why would Sanusi promote only Islamic Banking and not the other types?

If there is no evil agenda, why would the guidelines include "Sharia compliant". Is CBN a Centre for Sharia implementation?
Sanusi is obsessed and I pray that the courts stops him. In our constitution, it is stated clearly that a bank shall not take the name, "Federal, Christian, Islamic, Moslem, etc". Sanusi is breaking the law.

There is more than Buhari/Jonathan in that election and you still voted from among the worst? Military ruler? You didn't care to mind about OBJ, David Mark, Jang and many other former military rulers. You guys should stop this cherry picking random memory exercise.

Coming through the back door was legitimate then and that include Rawlings, our hero in Ghana. Depending of how old you were in 1984, millions of Nigerians trooped to the street to celebrate that back door entrance.

grin grin Trust me sir Eziachi, nigerians are the most confused set of human clowns you can ever come across. Today they will say split! split! split! Tomorrow they will say don't split! We need each other grin. For them any govt in power is regarded as the messiah/saviour as long as that govt is there grin. I tell you if the devil himself can wangle his way to the presidency, brain-dead nigerians will regard him/her as their saviour grin.

Islamic banking may be a good idea as practiced in sane countries
Nevertheless, Nigeria and its people, especially the muslims up north, are not the sanest of humans
So, the Nigeria version of islamic banking will most certainly be a different type than practiced in other climes
How will Buhari winning have modified the islamic banking?

I don't think Buhari would have changed the system of Islamic banking since it was not his Idea but a unique system on his own.

Boko haram would have been stopped because Buhari was a military man that has the right tactics to stop boko unlike jonathan

If Buhari had won, Boko's wishes would have long since been implemented.

As for Islamic Banking nobody on NL would be discussing it because NL would have already been shut down and Seun languishing in 'Kirikiri' humming 'Fela' tunes to himself.
Re: If Buhari Had Won? Keep In Mind BH, IB and the fulani rampage nationwide by ezeagu(m): 10:36pm On Jul 19, 2011
There would be no Boko Haram, because they wouldn't mess up the country under 'one of them', neither would the leaders up there who are funding them. The Fulani would carry on doing what they're doing. The only way Buhari could have destroyed Boko Haram would have been with heavy handedness, and we all know how that work's with fundamentalists, and we all know he's never dealt with suicide bombers so let's stop lying to ourselves as if he was ever going to be a Messiah.

With benefit of hindsight, Buhari was a better choice. No regrets voting for him. Can't believe GEJ went to Lagos to see cameron, he should have sent his VP if cameron won't come to Abuja.
