Have you asked yourself the reason the North and the whole APC became jittery and confused the moment Atiku emerged as the flag bearer of the PDP? The answer is not far from what I said above.
Go and see for yourself how far Atiku went in the last election, you will realise APC need to thread carefully otherwise, it is gonna premium tears or inconclusive election at their best.
