However most political analysts address the topic on the basis of religious balance and almost everybody is blaming the North to be behind the Muslim/Muslim Ticket agenda.
Since the beginning of the democracy the offices of President and Vice President have been shared between the North and the South in such a way if the President comes the North, the Vice President comes from the South and Vice versa.
The North having a population of Muslims as majority always chose Muslims to represent them. Likewise the south with Christians as majority always filled in their slots with Christians.
What has changed?
The APC presidential ticket for the 2023 election is won by Tinibu who happens to be a Muslim from the South which implies the Vice president slot belongs to the North authomatically.
Logically and rationally North will always present a Muslim to represent them while the South will always go for a Christian by virtue of the respective faith based dominant population of each region. .
The antecedent showed clearly the sharing formula was based on regions not based on faiths.The only reason that made it to look religious based sharing formula is because the South had at all time preferred a Christian to represent them while the North had always preferred a Muslim to represent them.
Despite the fact that Tinubu happened to be a Muslim he is still representing the South and it will not deprive the North their rights to freely choose who they can trust to represent them.

I agree with this 100%.

[One additional context to the debate, is that most of the Nigerian press is based in the south and financed and run by southerners. So the narrative would always be skewed towards the majority — even if not a large majority — of southern world view. Therefore, I wouldn't lose sleep over such opinions and narratives.]

Diplomacy is a good tool if you know how to use it however this is a secular nation and a traditionalist from the north should also be allow into the corridor of powers since we have choose to be selective with the truth.

This is what I was telling someone yesterday.

APC ticket should have gone to Southern Christian, Osibanjo or Ameachi, so that they can comfortably select a northern Muslim for the ticket to balance well.

Now that they pick a southern Muslim which are seen as minority Muslim, that is what is giving them this problem of who to choose as VP.

Now anyone they choose as VP, either Muslim or christian north will still affect APC somehow.

They didn't do their analysis very well and maybe because of BAT influence.
