The Acts of King Bubu: A tale of three men

In the seventh year of the reign of King Bubu son of Hari, the cattle herder, he slew the bandit She-cow, threw Maxii the Bright son of Biama into the gulag, and sent Yemo the thug, son of Gboho into exile in the kingdom of Bene. King Bubu continued to build iron roads as did King Jonah the Able son of Locki before him. And he built a bridge across the great River Ja, to link the Heeboes on each side of the rivers to each other, for which many Heeboes praised him.

But King Bubu son of Hari, was aged, frail, and weak. And his weak hands were like loopholes upon the land. And King Bubu refused to harken to wise counsel. And so hunger and despondence took roots in the kingdom, and spread their tentacles like plants upon fertile lands. And hunger and despondence took flesh and live amongst the people. And sorrows, tears and blood were constant visitors from the north of the kingdom, and they also sought to take root upon the lands in the south, in same manner as hunger as despondence.
Yet King Bubu refused to harken to wise counsel.

And so men who wined and dined with him, those who dwell in secret chambers, and those who sojourn in the corridors of power took spoils from the land. And they fed fat from the spoils of the land and arrogate power unto themselves; and they rendered King Bubu powerless, and reign in his name. And despondence grew upon the land; and young men began to jakpa*.
And Yak son of Kubu, who had been appointed Chief of Lots and Tally, among the people asked the Houses in the Kingdom to nominate from among them standard bearer for their House, so that the people may cast their lot for one among them to lead the country in the place of King Bubu as his reign was coming to an end. And these were the people chosen from among the houses.

Now the house - Alliance of Parties, also known by their initial - AOP, was the most deceitful house in the land and several crooked men swell in their ranks. Their banner had an insignia of two arrows, each pointing in the opposite directions, The party elders said it meant they listened with both ears. But the people said, it was a symbol of their confusion, lies and blame game.

The House Alliance of Parties, named Tifni son of Nubu as their standard bearer. It was Tifni, son of Nubu, who, when Jonah was still king, mounted his chariot and rode three days and three nights across dangerous terrains to the land of the Almajirite in the North to the home of Bubu, son of Hari, for which effort Bubu son of Hari became King. And Tifni son of Nubu, told everyone that he was next after King Bubu. But Tifni son of Nubu could neither walk unaided, nor by himself lift the standard of their party when presented to him. He relies on other for basic things, as he stooped with age and had become frail. His body often fail him. Many men claim he sold and used hallucination dust for which reason he lost his vigour.

House People of Basket, so named because of their tendency to fetch water with basket, chose Atif son of Tifku as their standard bearer. While he worked for King Nakbu, son of Goone, as Inspector of Goods, Atif, son of Tifku engaged in several enterprises. And he setup a venture to offer aids to bearers of good for rewards. And in this act did he prosper. During the second reign of King Ob, son of Jeh, known as Ob the Navigator, son of Jeh, Atif, son of Tifku sat beside him as his right-hand man. And Atif, son of Tifku was a master tactician who used his knowledge of men and their weakness to further the cause of his King, and his own cause. Atif son of Tifku was an aged man; but he walked with the swag of youth.

House People of Work was a small house, and labourers swell their rank. And the other houses deride them for their size and lack of means. And when Petr son Obih left the house People of Basket and pitched tent with house POW, they became big, And they named him their standard bearer. Petr son Obih was not a man of means; yet he gave from his heart. And he gave both to men and their gods for a cause. But he would not give to Prophet Mbak, son Bakah for he saw no cause. For this reason Prophet Mbak, son Bakah railed on him and called him miser. But Petr son Obih would not budge, for his mind was set upon the task of serving the people of Nigira.

And the people of Nigira loved his mien, and they began to contribute their widow’s mite, that they may raise coins to help him and his house win the lots. And they urge others to begin to pick their lots which they should cast for Petr son Obih. And these people called themselves the Obidients. And as they chant, "Obidient! Obified!” despondence began to disappear from their presence. And in this manner, many also began to chant and say "Obidient! Obified!! And despondence began to evaporate from the kingdom of Nigira!

And when the people saw what lies before them, and the kingdom of Nigira. They said, one to the other:
"Come, let us be obidient,"

And the people continued to be Obidient. For they fear that without obidience, they would be sacrificed on the alter of Nigira, where many hopes have so perished. And as many as become Obidient, they gained power to rise above hopelessness.
