Mr Lawan’s name was uploaded on INEC’s server by the ruling party alongside other senatorial candidates across the 36 states of the country and the Federal Capital Territory.

Mr Lawan did not participate in the party’s primary. Bashir Machina, who contested the primary in the district and won, has been contesting the party’s determination to steal his mandate. He vowed never to back down on his mandate.

On Thursday, Peoples Gazette reported that the APC had written INEC, informing the electoral body that Mr Lawan, Senate President since 2019, will be its nominee for the district.

INEC can recognize and accept any name, but its in the place of the court to decide later. That's if the man decides to go to court

INEC will release names on their own website i.e. names accepted, for now Parties all submit to the portal because the National Chairman has been given the password.

INEC cannot accept or reject now, as the case maybe.
