2023 Election: No youth will be engaged in electoral violence, votes will count, -Edoh

...Assures Nigerians of Peaceful election in Ekiti State

Dr. Raymond Edoh, The Nigerian Youth Ambassador to the United States, has stated that youths will not die in the 2023 general elections and that if any casualties must be recorded, then it should be the older people who have believed that Nigerian youths are human beings who can be used to cause electoral violence in order to manipulate and negatively influence the credibility of the elections to their favour.

Edoh while speaking to a cluster of newsmen in Abuja spoke bitterly assuring Nigerians that the older people will die in the 2023 general elections if they are still with the belief that they can influence and induce the youths into perpetrating electoral violence.

"We have said to everybody, most especially the big pocket politicians, that we the youths are not going to be engaged in ballot box snatching, thuggery, killings, vote selling, and all other forms of electoral violence and misconducts. And in our collective effort, we've been going state by state, letting all our youths know this and all Nigerian youths' voices have taken a single direction. So long as you are a youth in Nigeria, you belong to this umbrella body, Nigerian Youth Congress, Enough is enough. No youth is going to die during this election. If there must be casualties, let the old ones die. This time is their turn to die, not our turn to die again as youths.

"Yes, my call to all Nigerians today is one, most especially the youth. As I said in my previous briefing, the youth of Nigeria are always on the receiving end when it comes to electoral violence. Now we are the ones dying as I stated, We are the ones going to prison. We are the ones facing the law. So at this point, I want to make it clear in Ekiti state, that the election is going to be free and fair. As usual. I said this before in Anambra state that nobody is going to die, that if anybody dies in that state and that person is a youth, we will dig deep and we will know who sent this person and will bring the person to justice. And this same applies to Ekiti State today. No youth is going to die in that state. The election is going to be very fair and come 2023 also, the election is going to be the most successful in the history of this country. Because we the youth of Nigeria, are on the receiving end and we are not doing this anymore. We want the future of Nigeria to be secure", he passionately revealed.

Dr. Raymond Edoh, an international activist and Secretary-General, Nigerian Youth Congress, NYC, while congratulating Rev. Dr. Ijeoma Emeribe on her appointment as the Patroness, Nigerian Youth Congres, yesterday in Abuja reacted to the alleged Muslim-Muslim ticket ahead of the 2023 general elections, and said, " We don't just choose them. We choose them with a high level of criteria. They must be people with a high level of integrity. She mentioned something she said, people who will come and tell you that this person is a Christian, this person is a Muslim, they are only trying to divide us, yes. A Muslim or a Christian has nothing to do with leadership. When it comes to leadership. Even a traditional religious, a person can emerge as a candidate and even the President of Nigeria. What matters to us is what do you want to do to keep this country together? This is all that we are constantly about. Anybody can be President of Nigeria, anybody can be Vice President of Nigeria. All we care about as the youth of this country is somebody who will move this country forward. Somebody who can secure the future of Nigeria", he said.

Similarly, while asked about the role delegates have played in electing delegates and his view on the credibility of party flag bearers, he has this to say, "if you observe well, it is easy for a political party to elect a delegate as a flag bearer is a political process. And this political process is something you cant take off the system, so long as we are in a democracy. That must be exercised, but what matters to us at this point is one, number one, they elect the delegates they've already chosen who they want to be the flag bearer. Now is our turn most especially the youth of this country who are the electorate to choose who we want. And we will look at all the candidates and look at who is best for us. We'll bring all of them to the table because there must be at the table with us. If you can't be at the table with us, then we cannot choose you. So if you're at the table with us, we're going to tell you what we want and how we want it. If we agree, we will go ahead and support you."

The youths can do better

But again, there's hunger in the land

Address the stomach infrastructure first before the orientation
