The clash, Daily Champion learnt was a carryover of a disagreement among some youths in the area on Tuesday which resulted in the death of one person. The deceased was said to have been hurriedly interred in a shallow grave in the neighbourhood.

Enraged by the development, friends and relatives of the deceased were said to have regrouped yesterday and launched an attack on the other group.

It was learnt that the two groups clashed when a search team discovered the shallow grave where the body was secretly buried.

Spokesman of the Special Task Force in the state, Captain Charles Ekeocha who confirmed the unfortunate development gave a different version to the cause of the fight. He told Daily Champion that one Dahiru Musa was invited by an unidentified Christian to repair a door for him at Angwan Rukuba area but was killed instead

He stated that the Muslim youths in the area mobilized for reprisal attack adding that in the conflict that ensued five people were killed on the spot while another twelve people sustained fatal injuries.

Captain Ekeocha said the prompt intervention of his men prevented the unfortunate development from degenerating to full scale crisis and assured the people of the state his men are on top of the situation.

As a result of this, there was a pandemonium within Jos city as people ran helter shelter to avoid been caught in the conflagration while some schools within the vicinity hurriedly closed or the day.

Reacting to the killing the state government said it was saddened by the conflict, stressing that it has made enormous effort to sustain peace in the state.

The new development ends the fragile peace currently enjoyed by Jos. The state capital in recent times has attracted national and global attention following series of crises that led to the death of thousands of residents. The situation prompted the Federal Government to draft Special Task Force to the state to restore peace there.
