Man who uses identity of customers to register multiple phone lines to sell to criminals is nabbed

A man has been nabbed after he used the identity and personal information of a customer to register two different sim cards only to sell the second to criminals.

The man whose identity was used confronted the suspect and filmed it.

In a video shared online, the customer is seen narrating how he went to the suspect to register a sim card only for the suspect to also use his passport photograph, name, and National Identification Number (NIN) to register a second sim card which he sold to a criminal.

When questioned, the suspect didn't deny his actions, instead, he tried to explain his motive.

He said he was badly in need of money which is why he committed identity fraud.

The customer alleged that the suspect uses the identity and details of unsuspecting customers to register sim cards which are then sold to robbers and kidnappers. When those lines are used to commit a crime, it ends up being traced to the unsuspecting customer whose identity was used.

The suspect denied this and insisted the person he sold the sim card to is nor a kidnapper or an armedrobber.

For those living in Portharcout, i know a well packaged Airtel Agent Shop where this is done till this day.

Go to Rupokwu Market Junction, the shop is located opposite the primary school accross the road, just where you enter keke going along elepopodu.

It is a big AirTel Branded Shop. Well packaged with AC and two or morrle staff. Jut at the junction where those keke guys are loading. Infact The keke guys going to Elepopodu road are loading just infront of this well packaged Airtel Branded shop.

Those guys are criminals. They do exactly the same thing.


You can verify this, walk in there and tell them that you want to buy a new Airtel sim. After you are don with registration, walk away. You will receive two sms from airtel saying your new sim has been registered and you will be shown two numbers, one for the SIM you purchase and one for another SIM you are not aware off.

When they will ask you to tomb print twice, makimg it look like you did not get it right at first, they are simply doig multiple SIM registrations with you ID.
