So you are saying there is no quota system in common entrance exams into unity schools. That it is all fake news?
Anyway, look for the closest primary school around you and go make your enquiries.
Even Tinubu that did not attend nursery, primary and secondary school, but attended Richard Dale and university of Chicago knows about quota system and that list that has been in existence since the 80s.

I am not saying there is no quota system into unity schools in Nigeria. What I am saying is that the cut off posted is nit for 2022. It was initially published in July last year by Sahara reporters and the ministry debunked it as fake news. The cut off for 2022 is nit what we are currently seeing on Nairaland frontpage today

[quote author=Arysexy post=114207208]They claimed Ekiti is home of Prof, yet, Anambra the home of "traders" got the highest cut off

How come this consideration is not given to SE when it comes to politics for equity and fairness

This is what Dr Onu was asking " where is the justice"

When its time to help some ppl, standard is lowered, when it's the one they have numerical advantage, they don't rmbr quota system.[/quot. You are not getting it. It only means some of this state has higher number of students applying to Unity Schools. What if average Ekitis prefer to study in their State if they believe they will receive standard education there?

Please what do you understand by this? 1. Female gender is being marginalized and not encouraged to go to school not only by Boko Haram but the government and law of the land. Female stidents from the north are expected to score higher to progress in school.
2. BAckwardness is being encouraged with this system

Anambra no dey carry last.
Proudly an Anambarian.
I believe this news is legit because I actually went to a unity school. Anambra, Enugu and Imo always have the highest cut-off marks across unity, federal and state schools.

Sometimes, I feel it's to balance the whole education stuff amongst every tribe especially those disadvantaged at proper education.

But I fucking loathe it. Everything suppose dey equal and fair to everyone. Not favoring some and raising high standards for the others because you know they are very intelligent

Oga try and be calming down, the cut off marks is meant to prune down the high numbers of candidates.

As I'm sure you can see from the list that the cut off mark for Lagos and Abuja is lower than that of Anambra, this is not due to the fact that Anambra has more intelligent students than Abuja or Ekiti. Southwest for instance has a large number of well equipped private secondary schools, same goes for Abuja, so you don't see students from these state rushing to take exams for public schools.

As for that of the north, the low cut off mark is to encourage them to go to school. In a nutshell, the cut off marks are determined by the law of demand and supply, in order to understand this better, you need to see the numbers of applicants per state/region, you would notice that the southeast always have more numbers of applicants hence the high cut off marks, so it's not due to any imaginary high intelligent or marginalisation of any kind abeg

Everyone can see that clearly, igbos are the fore-runners of academic intelligence at every level of education in Nigeria

I don't think so,even sanusi when he was emir said only 24 candidates sat for waec from a whole northern state, even my village in imo state produces more candidates than that

What you said could be true but the list is fake.
Not that having higher cutoff marks means you are good or otherwise,it means that some other people prefer to go to private schools and also have higher number of private schools compared to others.
SW has the highest number of schools and private schools in Nigeria. Thanks to Lagos and Ogun states.
The authentic stats still show that Yorubas lead in Education.

South west are not your mates in education matters, they have gone beyond this level you are bragging with ordinary unity cut off. You are talking out of ignorance. Reason why cut off is low in South west is because they have highest numbers of good secondary schools that are better than unity schools; only few students
from South West choose unity schools, demand is low, which affects cut off; many parents prefer to send their children to other better schools especially quality private secondary schools which are many in the west.

As at 2005, check the list of secondary schools by states and imagine what numbers would have multiplied to in 2022. Each University, church, mosque also has quality secondary schools that compete with unity. Who has highest University, secondary school and primary school in Nigeria? Is it not south west? They go to most better quality schools that are better than unity, that is why the cut off is low, don't ever equate them to be south east mates; they are superior and they have gone beyond the level you are now.

As at 2005 alone, South East (five states) had 1,483 public secondary schools, South West (six states) had 2,973 public secondary schools within the same period which implies south west education prowess is more than double of that of South east. So, how do you expect south west to drag so low by using unity cut off to brag when south west students have more choice distributions better than unity.

The system only favour the North.
Don't be surprised large number of the students will still fail even with the cut off mark of 2.

Anyway, those set of people from that region don't value western education. If you've stay in far north like North West or North Central you will understand.
The truth is those cut off mark will not be used eventually in some part of north. The number of available space is more than those seeking admission. At the end, it will be whoever shows interest should be admitted.

Are these marks or quota. Why am I seeing male and female?

Educate a boy, you educate 1 person.
Educate a girl, you educate an entire generation.

The north understand it and don't want the female kids to get education, that why they place the female cut off marks higher.
