When I went to register for my PVC a Peter Obi supporter was making mouth that when PO gets to power, registration would be easier and elections would be free and fair. Saying Peter Obi didn't conduct local government elections in his 8 years of office would be a lie because he actually conducted one in 2014 before he left office.

That said let's go. Peter Obi came in through the courts, after a 3 year legal pursuit to reclaim his mandate. It was a hard won historical victory that changed the political cycle in Nigeria. Before that, his rigged in predecessor who happens to currently be in the ruling APC government, ran the state for 3 years, having been sworn in in May 29th 2007.

Peter would later get sworn into power in March 17, 2006 after the courts kicked out Ngige in March 15, 2006. Peter settled into office and the rigors of office began. However on November 2nd of that same 2006, his 100% opposition house of assembly impeached him and his deputy was sworn in. H.E Peter Obi was reinstated by the Court of Appeal on February 9, 2007 and he again took over the reins of power. Kindly watch the time line

I'm 2007, new elections were Conducted and again INEC edged him out, not even regarding him as a participant. The election threw up Andy Uba but was nullified after Mr Peter went to court stating his tenure was still running till 2010, having been sworn into power in 2006. Meanwhile through these intrigues and power play and distractions, the ANSIEC was dead! Totally dead by that time. Peter Obi had to resort to use departmental heads of service as interim LG administrators.
